http://www.myspace.com/davidgilmour The title song from his new upcoming album On An Island is on a myspace account with his name. Someone on the comments sections says that the account is confirmed from the record company as being his... whether or not he reads it is a different story, but none of that matters. The fact that his title track can be streamed is what I'm here to tell you about!! Check it out! Here's some more David Gilmour info from back in December...
Thanks for the tip as I have been wondering when it was coming out. I'll have to take a listen to this later.
not a bad song at all. that could really fit in into there old stuff. ive always said that pink floyd is my band of all time. i need to listen them more often again. thanks a bunch for the link.
I've been playing this album nonstop for over two weeks. It's definitely helps to keep the blood pressure low. As for Pulse, I've had it in my most wanted box at Blockbuster.net for over a month and it still isn't available. LonghornFan is getting ANGRY!
The new stuff seems more slow and spacey...at least from what I've heard...even by Pink Floyd standards. But, Gilmour is a guitar God. I listened to most of the Radio City Music Hall show he recently played for the new tour. I skipped over most of the new stuff(it has to grow on me) and went right to the old stuff. It's amazing how different some of that older stuff is played than when it was recorded in the studio. In particular, Gilmour changes the way he plays the solos on the older stuff seemingly every few years when I hear it played. It is refreshing. I guess great guitarists like to refine their work over time. I guess that got me thinking...is David up there just feeling it and playing it how he feels it? I would suspect that if David had to play the same song over and over again...it would not come out the same each time. Is he changing stuff on the fly within the context of the tone centers and scales he's playing? Or, is it all just so rehearsed that he is pre-programmed to play it multiple ways? If I had to guess, I would say it's a combination. It's just Gilmour in the "zone" I guess. I don't even think he's on Earth when he's playing. He's just in his own world.
Playing in the now was why loved SRV so much. I just wish Pulse would be released on DVD. We've waited long enough.
