I can't tell you the last cd I bought. I just don't buy many. I don't listen to music at home and when I'm in the car it's usually talk radio. Anyway, I've been a fan of Cornell since Soundgarden and liked his song in the Bond movie Casino Royale. So today I picked up his new solo cd and am glad I did. I liked the majority of it...the first two cuts weren't all that great, imo, but really picked up after that. I had heard about his cover of Michael Jackson's Billie Jean and was anxious to check that out. It's certainly different...a lot slower, but still powerful. Anyone else bought this? Here he is on the Tonight Show singing "She'll Never Be Your Man"
I pirated it here http://www.rlslog.net/chris-cornell-carry-on-2007/ It was alright, I like when he changes his voice a bit like Shadow on the Sun, when he stays the same tone throughout like in the vid it gets kinda dull.
decent cd... not quite as good as his "Unplugged in Sweden" cd, though that wasn't original material. better than Tom Morello's "The Nightwatchman".... but that really isn't bad after a few listens either.
Damn. I wasn't the biggest SG fan, but I liked them -- and Cornell truly doesn't have any issues at all with falling in line with the whole Daughtry/Rob Thomas thing. Just generic, VH1-at-4am-rock (think Nickelback). Frosted tips and long-sleeve Ts with obscure drawings on them.
