i'm a courtside dj for sbl games in western australia and i was wondering what sort of songs the nba teams use during warmups. also, are there any particular songs that pump up the crowd and the players, other than the obvious sports tunes (we will rock u, rock and roll pt2 etc)? I'm trying to keep it new and fresh, so any of your input about your favourite basketball songs would be sweet.

ESPN makes a collection of CDs called "Jock Jams" -- it's an excellent collection of this kind of music.

That is a pretty sweet job.

Anything that is popular at the time seems to work. I'm trying to think of the songs I heard at the Alamodome.

    3 Doors Down - Kryptonite
    Coldplay - Yellow
    Pink - There You Go
    N'Sync - Here We Go
    U2 - Elevation
2 Unlimited - Get Ready for This

My mind is drawing a blank right now...If I can remember the others, I'll let you know.

Mix in some DMX, his music's always good for sporting events.

    ------------------
"Empire" had the better ending. I mean, Luke gets his hand cut off, finds out Vader's his father, Han gets frozen and taken away by Boba Fett. It ends on such a down note. I mean, that's what life is, a series of down endings. All "Jedi" had was a bunch of Muppets.

    I love the bass on:

Dr. Dre f/Eminem - Forgot About Dre
    DMX - What's My Name?

You might also want to check out Limp Bizkit and Kid Rock.

I agree with BGM and Smokey. Good choices.
BTW, the music at the Alamo Dome is pretty good. The music at the Summit/Compaq Center here in Houston is totally boring and they need to refigure their mix...ok it sucks!
DMX, Dr.Dre, Crystal Method, Chemical Brothers, or even some Stevie Ray Vaughan.

That sounds like a kick-ass job man!

2Unlimited always works, the "Hey Song" as well as Guns 'N Roses' "Welcome to the Jungle". That one really gets a crowd pumped, especially the intro.

    There's a lot out there I can't think of.

Finn, I don't know if your kidding or not, but I do like 'Twist of Fate' by Olivia. She had some good stuff in her career. Twist is kind of an uptempo song.

I also liked Olivia's Magic, Make a move on me, and Jolene....and of course, Grease. And oyu know, Grease II wasn't too bad a soundtrak either. The songs are much dumber, but they grow on you.

The next time I have meat and mashed potatoes, I think I'll put a very large blob of potatoes on my plate with just a little piece of meat. And if someone asks me why i didn't get more meat, ill just say, "Oh, you mean this?" and pull out a big piece of meat from inside the blob of potatoes, where ive hidden it. Good magic trick, huh?

I'd feel very bad if I forget to mention this song.

    "Loco" by Coal Chamber

That song always makes me want to go crazy and break stuff...
