    Pearl Jam

Here is their list which was decided on by their readers:

    1 - Pearl Jam
    2 - Aerosmith
    3 - Van Halen
    4 - The Eagles
    5 - Journey
    6 - Guns 'N' Roses
    7 - The Grateful Dead
    8 - Queensryche
    9 - The Doors
    10 - REM
11 (Tie) - Allman Brothers Band
    11 (Tie) - Fleetwood Mac
13 (not 12 as USA Today cannot count) - Metallica
    14 - KISS
    15 - The Ramones
16 (Tie) - Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band
16 (Tie) - Creedence Clearwater Revival
18 (not 16 as once again USA Today cannot count and it is a tie) - Dave Matthews Band
    18 (Tie) - Lynyrd Skynyrd
    20 - The Beach Boys
    21 - Nirvana
    22 - The Replacements
    23 - Bon Jovi

Find it hard to believe that ZZ Top, Blondie, Soundgarden, Smashing Pumpkins, and The Cars were left off this list. Kansas might have a case to be there. Personally, I think including Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band is questionable as I think of Bruce more as a solo artist.

Anyway, here is the link if you want to read more:

I'm just happy that my 10 favorite bands are all British bands. :p

The very fact that Queensryche and Bon Jovi are on this list (while many other great bands aren't) demonstrates how mindless this list is.

It is 13 because ABB and Fleetwood Mac tied for 11.

A band who gained popularity for the song "Silent Lucidity" which was popular because it sounded very Pink-Floyd'ish. They weren't a bad bad, but they weren't great, either, and they certainly don't deserve to be on this list.

Kind of depressing that Creedence is all the way down in 16th and then Journey is #5 and Pearl Jam #1... wtf? Of course, it's a readers' poll so it's not exactly scientific.

Jeez, it's basically just a popularity contest, no need to get your collective panties in a wad.

"MY OPINIONS ON SUBJECTIVE THINGS ARE BETTER THAN YOURS!!!"

LOL @ how touchy music snobs are. :p ;)

This poll would be best to be renamed most popular. Ranking the "Best" bands should be left to the experts like the Recording Academy. Although they screw up the Grammys sometimes.

Yeah, I'm definitely surprised there's that much love for PJ out there. I'd definitely move them down some and include Soundgarden and Stone Temple Pilots. I am convinced this is one of THE most underappreciated, underrated bands there ever was. I'm not just letting my love for them interfere in the discussion, but they were the Led Zeppelin of the 90's.

The following is a quote from the iTues Music Store from their iTunes Essentials section: "Stone Temple Pilots could have been the Led Zeppelin of the 90's. (I think they did reach this level in terms of how good they are in their era). In fact, they almost were. Had they not been star-crossed, plagued by personal demons, who knows what this massively talented crew could have achieved? They turned the early sound of Grunge into arena rock, and, as they matured, they brought the hi-decibel level of classic, metal infused rock to radios worldwide."

"As Stone Temple Pilots grew in stature, so did their material. While early hits like "Plush" and "Sex Type Thing" were primal blasts of heavy rock, later tunes like "Pretty Penny" and "Interstate Love Song" introduced the kind of astonishing polish and craft that would leave their critics in the dust."

It goes onto say more, but I can't copy it and I've had to type all this out. If you like rock with a bit of a heavier edge, this band is amazing. I know this article is just fan votes, but Stone Temple Pilots need be represented. If you have iTunes, check out their iTunes essentials.
