Does anyone else out there you iTunes on your computer to organize your music library and play songs while you are your computer? You should! I used to use Winamp and iTunes is better in every way. I love everything about iTunes - the presentation and the options you can implement, for example, "smart playlists." The best part about it, though, is all the features of the Music Store. Also, the fact you can update your iPod so seamlessly.

Anyways, to the point of this thread. I love using the smart playlists (playlists that are programmed with specific options you choose), and my favorite is the default "Top 25 Most Played." I changed that to top 100. I have a continually growing library of 4950 songs.

I'm always listening to music whenever I get a chance, so I'm always curious what songs I end up listening to the most. I'm not gonna post my top 100, but I'll post the top 30 and I invite anyone as OCD as me to do the same and post your top 10, 15, or whatever.

Unfortunately, I only discovered iTunes last December and my collection in the program was reset back in February, so the songs have only been tracked since then. I hate overplaying songs and try hard not to, so the number of plays isn't that high, but here's my most played list.

(If you participate, don't feel like you need to include any information beyond song and play count - I'm just obsessive compulsive about it)
    Rank----Song----Artist----Album----Play Count
    1. Holiday -- Green Day -- American Idiot -- 30
    2. I Smoke, I Drank (Remix) -- Roy Jones Jr. -- Body Head Bangerz, Vol. 1 -- 28
    3. Boulevard of Broken Dreams -- Green Day -- American Idiot -- 26
    4. Silvergun Superman -- Stone Temple Pilots -- Purple -- 26
    5. Jesus of Suburbia -- Green Day -- American Idiot -- 25
    6. 3 Kings -- Slim Thug -- 3 Kings Single -- 24
    7. She's A Rebel -- Green Day -- American Idiot -- 20
    8. Shorty Wanna Ride - Young Buck -- Straight Outa Cashville -- 20
    9. St. Jimmy -- Green Day -- American Idiot -- 19
    10. Hollaback Girl -- Gwen Stefani -- Love, Angel, Music, Baby -- 19
    11. Blueberry Yum Yum -- Ludacris -- The Red Light District -- 19
    12. Be Yourself -- Audioslave -- Out of Exile -- 18
    13. One, Two Step -- Ciara -- Goodies -- 18
    14. What You Gon' Do -- Lil Jon & The East Side Boyz -- Crunk Juice -- 18
    15. Real N***a Roll Call -- Lil Jon & The East Side Boyz -- Crunk Juice -- 18
    16. I'm Supossed To Die Tonight -- 50 Cent -- The Massacre -- 17
    17. Whatsername -- Green Day -- American Idiot -- 17
    18. Slither -- Velvet Revolver -- Contraband -- 17
    19. American Idiot -- Green Day -- American Idiot -- 16
    20. Gone -- Trillville -- The King of Crunk Presents: Lil' Scrappy & Trillville -- 16
    21. Vertigo -- U2 -- How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb -- 16
    22. Just A Little Bit -- 50 Cent -- The Massacre -- 15
    23. Oh -- Ciara -- Goodies -- 15
    24. Give Me Novacaine -- Green Day -- American Idiot -- 15
    25. Extraordinary Girl -- Green Day -- American Idiot -- 15
    26. Wake Me Up When September Ends -- Green Day -- American Idiot -- 15
    27. Homecoming -- Green Day -- American Idiot -- 15
    28. Whole Lotta Love -- Led Zeppelin -- Led Zeppelin II -- 15
    29. Bullet With Butterfly Wings -- Smashing Pumpkins -- Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness -- 15
    30. Down -- Stone Temple Pilots -- No. 4 -- 15

Green Day is the only one of my favorite, favorite bands that is still releasing records, so when I got their CD I jumped all over it, as evidenced by the excessive amount of domination they have in this list.

Like I said, this has only been tracked since February. If this was an all-time list, it would be dominated by Led Zeppelin, Stone Temple Pilots, and Nirvana. The top 4 would probably be "Plush," "Heartbreaker," "Forgot About Dre," and "Smells Like Teen Spirit." This list doesn't display the various types of music I listen to, but these songs just happen to be what I've been wanting to hear recently.

Other random songs throughout my most played:
    32. Alice in Chains - It Ain't Like That
    45. Chuck Berry - No Particular Place To Go
    58. Led Zeppelin - The Ocean
    65. Eminem - My Name Is
    77. Nancy Sinatra - These Boots Were Made For Walkin'
    88. Led Zeppelin - Over the Hills and Far Away
    99. George Strait - The Best Day

So what do yall listen to?

Ha no. Just a fan of their iPod and related products.

The point of this was just to see what people listen to the most... I mean, since music is talked about so much on here. Not just a "what are you listening to" but how often.

Don't own an iPod although I probably should. Yet, I have never seen a compelling reason for me to get one. So, I can't help you here, rockets #1 :p But right now, I am listening to "Genius: The Best of Warren Zevon".

I have an Ipod, it was a gift.. I HATE ITUNES for the simple fact of moving music back and forth, what good is the program if it has so many limitations over the product it was intended for?? I use Anapod Explorer by redchair software now for the IPOD.. If these damn apple products havent become so "trendy" of late I really dont see how the Ipod would have made it in the market.. DIE iTunes!!

I really need to get on iTunes. I feel behind the times. Shoot, you can apparently even download my band's songs off their service, but I don't know how. People in the office make fun of me 'cause I'm iTunes illiterate. I gotta figure that crap out ...

iTunes is horrible. We use it at the radio station I volunteer at and as was said earlier, too many limitations.

    I love iTunes.

The only thingg that sucked was formatting the ID tags for my 32144189275 gigs of Mp3s when I first got it.

I love it. It's a little bit limiting in some ways but overall it gets the job done.

i haven't done anything except buy the songs and keep them in the iTunes library and play them from there so maybe there are bad things i haven't experienced, but i just got iTunes like 10 days ago and am really liking it. i'm actually paying for music now after going from Napster to audiogalaxy to kazaa for the last 5 years (though i never really bought cd's before those and still bought a few cd's during that time). it feels weird, but 99 cents seems so reasonable and you get a nice 30 second clip of the song to preview it, they usually have several versions available (which i really like), and you don't have to wade through all the purposely messed up versions on kazaa to get the song. plus it downloads it immediately which is nice. i've only got about 17 songs so far and don't plan to purchase very often anyway, so i don't feel the expense is too bad. most of those 17 had been building up over the last couple of months. i figure i can dish out about $50/yr on songs i really like.

i haven't tried moving any of my other 2000+ mp3's in there, and never planned to (b/c i already know which folder everything is in), but if it is complicated, then that's even more reason not to.

This might be obvious to many, but let me let yall in on a little secret since there are some complaints about moving songs back and forth. I know you can't go from iPod to computer through iTunes, and believe me that infuriates me. Howeverrrr, the iPod also functions as a hard drive for storing files. If you want to transfer your music from one computer to the next, an Ipod proves for an easy way. Simply hook your iPod up, go to My Computer, look for what drive it is (probably E), and simply just drag/cut/copy the files into the folder. The iPod will act just like a regular USB save disk thingamajigger. Those files that you drag in won't be able to be heard when they're in that form, but the point is to transfer them to another computer. Then, when it's on said computer (after you drag them from iPod folder to computer), you put them into the iTunes library on that computer and there ya go. Hope that helps.

For those of you who don't use iTunes, how many CD's do you have? One reason I love it is because I never have to mess with the constant switching, chance of damaging, or fear of losing the CD's ever again. This question kinda goes out to you, Manny. I'm kinda in awe of the wide, wide diverse taste you have in music.

If yall out there don't wanna take the time to make a dumb, long list like I did, then just post what you listen to the most, sheesh.

That is so very simple. All you do is go to file, add folder to library, and click the appropriate folder, then just like that, all your music is in iTunes.

Keep in mind, though, 99% of songs that you download for free from places like Kazaa are going to have messed up, mostly inaccurate song info. If you're like me, though, you spend countless hours getting it right.

That's the problem... you can use any large MP3 player as a USB hard drive, but with iTunes you still cant go in through explorer and move MP3 files from player to computer with out having them setup as a data folder on a Ipod, even then you cant play the songs.. All this for the RIAA and pirating? That was the deal breaker for me and if I go in a change the songs the way I want them via a mod Itunes b****es that the song listing isn’t correct and then proceeds to reload the Ipod with the last good list you have in Itunes.. I just don’t get it, why have a MP3 player that you can’t use without that companies software?? I have about 300 CDs ripped at 256kbps in MP3 via windows media player it will pull down all the Id3 tags and image art and I create the play lists that I like in winamp... Until iTunes gets with the program and lets me do what I can do with EVERYOTHER mp3 player I won’t use it...

I rarely buy any songs from iTunes, and I don't have an iPod. So, how would iTunes be any better for me as simply a media player as compared to Winamp, etc?

    itunes music store sucks

I loved the old versions of iTunes, but now its getting tooo bloated. The first version on mac was awesome, the first version on PC was nice as well. but now its just almost bloated...

I love the ratings, and the automated playlists.
