Musharraf warns Israel of dire consequences against attack on Iran

    Saturday September 25, 2004 (1324 PST)

NEW YORK: President General Pervez Musharraf has warned that Israel
should get ready for dire consequences if it targets nuclear
    installations of Iran.

He made these remarks in an interview with Arabic daily, says a
    private TV channel.

President Musharraf underscored that Israel is neither policeman of
the world nor has it any right to attack Iran. Israel is committing
breach of world order. It should get ready to face horrendous
eventualities if it attacks Iran, he added.

He went on to say that Israel's military offensive against Iran would
leave negative impact on the region and the entire world. Iran should
give up its hard liner stance in this respect, he proposed.

To a query on sending troops to Iraq he said that Pakistan is ready to
send its forces if Muslim countries contribute their troops.

He asserted that Pakistan is winning the war against the terrorism and
will eliminate terrorist activities of Al-Qaeda militants.

So, if he substituted the word "Israel" for "United States", do you think he'd say the same thing to George W?

    Methinks not.

Isreal is one of the most powerful nations in the world they would'nt do it b/c of tensions...they'd have the U.S do it for them....it'll happen in time...Iran is the only one "terrorist" nation left..

Perhaps no one else is in as a unique position spanning both Islam and Western culture as Musharraf. If he doesn't broker a deal for peace he will be right in the middle of the conflagration.

At present he is successfully battling Al Queda, making nice with India and holding a lid on Pakistani fundementalism. I'd take whatever he has to say seriously. Besides it doesn't sound like a threat from him , it sounds like warning about the rest of the Islamic World.

i guess if israel bribed him...i mean provided economic relief than he would have no problem.

the u.s. did exactly what he warns israel against not doing. the difference is a few billion in aid.

    seems hypocritical to me.

Bingo. When a nuclear power starts talking about dire consequences, sit up and take notice.

That's why Iran and Korea want nuclear capablity.

i hope you know this aid has an * with it......you get nothing for free .... it's like a loan....the thing is Palestine gets a lot of aid from Arab countries(which will help it pay off whatever they get from the U.S)....but because the situation is soo volatile....basically it does not go in the right hands....the money is used for families to go abroad and send kids to school...when you don't have a stable enviornment it is not possible ffor the governing body to be stable either....so basically you have the Arab countries paying this loan off(with interest)......

jo mama....there is a difference between the U.S and Isreal....Musharaf will not go to Isreal....its a different political situation....

Pakistan is NOT getting their loan from the U.S...its actually from the World Bank....but is backed by the U.S....see large corporations are running most things these days...watch the movie "Network"...from 1975 or 85....will give you an idea about today's world interestingly enough.
