Which is better "eye candy", or which would you rather see? or have you seen one and how you like it now? ------------------ It's my way or the highway!
Haven't seen Driven, but I've heard it sucks. We saw the Mummy Returns today and it was great. I was expecting crap (I don't know why) and I had never seen the first one, but this movie was alot of fun, in my opinion. Alot like Indiana Jones, if you liked those movies. ------------------ http://www.swirve.com ... more fun than a barrel full of monkeys and midgets. It was cheesy, but I really liked The Mummy - very old-style action/adventure stuff. I'm really looking forward to the sequal. I don't like Stallone or auto racing, so I can't imagine I would care much for Driven. ------------------ So, I took the million dollars and bought a steam shovel...
Haven't seen The Mummy Returns, but I saw the first one and loved it. I saw Driven not that long ago, basically it is Bull Durham and Days of Thunder mixed into one movie, and every aspect of it is done horribly, except some of the crashes are cool looking. ------------------ Give me ambiguity or give me something else. Ive seen both of em. Driven is a pretty good movie, BUT MUMMY IS DA BOMB!!!!!!!!!! Damn everyone should atleast watch this movie in the theaters atleast TWICE!!!!!! ------------------
The rule is that sequels are rarely (if ever) as good as the first, and never (maybe one or two) better than the original. That being said, I didn't care too much for "The Mummy". I didn't have a lot of expectation going in, and I still managed to come out disappointed. It wasn't the worst movie I'd ever seen. It wasn't even a "bad" movie. I just didn't like it. Soooooo... how the heck could I even entertain the thought that I might like the second one?? I'll wait for video. ------------------ DREAMer's Rocket Page
Hey Dreamer man you are going to miss out. I admit the first Mummy actually kinda sucked. I just went today cause my friends wanted to go. I thought it would SUCK. Boy was I wrong! If you like non stop heart pumping action adventure with special effects this movie is for you. I would list it as one of my top 5 favorite movies of all time! ------------------
Its very true that sequels usually suck or don't live up to the original. I think a lot of it depends on the demand for a second one made. Im sure if it was possible, they would make a Titanic II. A couple sequels that I can think are better. Terminator 2 Star Wars series got better with each one Sequels that I think will not live up to the origional. Jarassic Park 3 Terminator 3 Matrix 2 & 3(These might be equal) New Star Wars prequels ------------------ Im too drunk to walk ... Im driving home!
Unless your an auto racing buff or love Stallone, I wouldn't reccomend Driven. The computer-animated crashes are fine and dandy, and the scene where the girl's skirt lifts up is cool, but the acting, script and everything else is well-below par. The part where Sly's character and the other driver race through the streets of downtown Chicago is a bit overblown, as well. As for Mummy Returns, I never saw the first one, but for some reason it just doesn't interest me. Azim da Dream ------------------ Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me, either. Just leave me the hell alone. http://www.clutchtown.com
I didn't care much for The Mummy either, probably because I was sick of seeing Brenden Frasier(sp?) attempt to do his best imitation of Indiana Jones. The jokes were bad and the effects made the movie unwatchable IMO. That said, the sequal does look like it could actually be better, but I'm still holding out for Tomb Raider. http://www.tombraidermovie.com/splash_frames.html ------------------ Don't sweat the petty things and don't pet the sweaty things.
Driven was the first movie I ever walked out of. The Mummy 2 was great. ------------------ www.swirve.com "Pre-born, you're fine, pre-school, you're f*****."-George Carlin
Im surprised so many people here actually went on saw Driven. Everything about is says crap. I liked the first Mummy a lot, mainly because I expected it to be real crappy. Instead, it had a stupid humor to it and was well filled with action. Seeing as the second one looks even more action packed, I expect to be as entertaining. Nothing wrong with a movie not being academy award material but still being pleaasing to watch. ------------------ I hope, when they die, cartoon characters have to answer for their sins.
Driven was one of the cheeeeeezeeeeeist movies I have ever seen in my life. Everyone was like hugging at the end and celebrating. The race scenes were cool, but not as great as advertised. The plot (yes there was one) went absolutely nowhere. I would recommend waiting for the dvd version and then skip to the race scenes. Id give it a 2 out of 5 stars (the two being for the race scenes).
Well- It seems America has spoken and it is the Mummy Returns in record numbers. With over $70 it beats Episode 1's pre-memorial day weekend opening. I will wait until the crowds settle down a bit ------------------ I hope, when they die, cartoon characters have to answer for their sins.
1) The Empire Strikes Back is the best of the Star Wars movies. 2) I have a friend who is obsessed with open wheel racing, and even he could not give more than a lukewarm review to Driven. ------------------ You can't stick a porcupine in a barn, light it on fire, and expect to get licorice.
I saw The Mummy Returns yesterday . It was pretty good . I liked the old school grab-a-gun-and-start-shooting style . Another thing I liked was how it closly followed The first Mummy and all the actors who didnt die returned . The Computerizied Rock was a little cheesy but overall it was an ok movie . ------------------ Lisa : Dad did you know The Chinese use the same word for Crisis as they do for Opportunity? Homer: Yes! I had no intention -- and still have no intention -- of seeing either. I get free tickets to movies about twice a month and wouldn't waste them on those two movies. Some of the cinematography and costuming from the Mummy looks like it is pretty nice (and some of the animiation looks horrible), but that won't make up for a crappy screenplay. I'd sooner watch O Brother a third time with my free passes. ------------------ RealGM Gafford Art Artisan Cakes
