MSN syas ASTROWORLD is one of the 10 best theme parks in the nation...

    Didnt see this posted.

Its on smack dab in the middle of MSN's home page right now. They say Astroword is one of America's 10 best theme parks.

    Check it out HERE.

My question is....*NO OFFENSE* but what theme park did these people go to. I dont remember Astroworld ever being this good to be ranked this high.

i haven't been in years. i guess it kinda of takes away from the whole experience if you used to work there.

first job. it was called "grounds quality"... in other words, "cleaning up shat and vomit off of the bathroom floors".

anyway, one morning i got to ride the texas cyclone four times in a row... non stop... in the back cart. it was so bad arse. the back cart kinda sorta jumps off the track a little bit on the turns.

For a long time, Astroworld has had terrible customer servies and rude, slow staff with bad attitude. The reviews support this.

That's why, in one week, I will be travelling over 1000 miles from Houston to Cali to take my family to Disneyland.

Wow, look at those reviews. I haven't been in many years... always end up with either no money or friends who don't like to ride things... but it sounds like it's not what it used to be. :(

Which is better to ride in on a roller coaster, the back cart or front or does it even matter?

Based simply on its rides, Astroworld can pretty much hold its own. But the park itself is in serious need of a facelift. It's gotten pretty decrepit over the years.

Are you serious? Their rides overall are some of the WORST of any six flags park in the nation. I've been to Arlington, St. Louis, San Antonio, and Chicago... and each of those parks has 2 to 3 roller coasters that would easilly be the BEST one here, by far.

Or, looking at it from the converse view, the best ride at Astroworld right now is probably Serial Thriller or the Cyclone (which is damn old)... and those would probably only be the 3rd or 4th best option at any of the above parks (which all have a comparable wooden coaster, or inverted coaster to match Astroworld's best).

I always thought that there was some rule in place that said Astroworld could not get really thrilling rides because of some safety concerns of the city... (seeing that the other six flags parks are often off in the middle of nowhere)... but its now pretty obvious that its simply the park itself that decides they don't want to go all out for the big rides.

I worked at Astroworld three different summers, anyone else ever work there?

I haven't been to many theme parks but Magic Mountain is awesome.

Yeah, the fact that Magic Mountain is not on there is a frikkin' joke. That place is easily the best or one of the top 2-3 amusement parks in the nation. It blows all of the other Six Flags out of the water!!

The one in San Antonio is the worst, easily.

Damn, too much hate on Astroworld...

Astroworld is awesome. Lots of rollercoaster options, good food, and plus you get admission to Waterworld free!

    Since when?

I was there 2 years ago and paid extra for Waterworld and the freakin thing closed at 4pm. We didn't even get to Freakin waterworld. Needless to say I was pissed and let Freakin Astroworld know about it.

I loved Astroworld as a kid but it has gone downhill big time since those days. the people that work there suck and don't give a crap about anything.

Like OmegaSupreme I worked in that ground-quality or "GQ" as they liked to call it.

Some of the bad things were that the customer's were totally impatient and rude (but I did understand because the prices where horrible).

My managers were totally power hungry - (They just loved to remind everyone that they were higher on the totem pole)

And I am sorry A-Train that food was not all that good... Alot of my friends worked in food service and some of the food was not very good. And I felt sooooo bad for the customer's for the price gouging.

I remember a hamburger, fries, and drink would cost somthing like $8-10 for a "Park Guest" and the employees would get the same food in the employee cafeteria for like $2-3 bucks.

The only cool thing was when they would have "section parties" for the employees. That was where a certain section of the park would remain open after hours strickly for the employees and the food and rides were free.

The best section party every year had to be the Waterworld section party... that was when all of the good looking, co-working, females showed up in there two-piece bathing suits.

Take it for what it's worth. I worked there in the Summer of '92. I haven't been back to Astroworld since I picked up my last check for that summer.

the back is more bad arse. you feel it more when you go over a hill or around a sharp corner because it jerks you more. like i say, it feels like it jumps off the track a little sometimes. may have a little headache afterwards, but well worth the rush.

fellow gq'er. :) when were you there? i was in '95.
