This is hilarious - I've never seen an f-up this bad on the web by such a major company.

I'm viewing at 1152x864, but my friend at 1024x768 got the same thing.

www.msn.com - go check it out while it's up.

The funny thing is that it's readable in Netscape - some of the layers are messed up though. It's probably beautiful if you have Windows XP installed.

It displays o.k. for me in IE 5.5. That must have been a quick fix.

looks fine for me on win2k at 1280 x 1024

Maybe the problem is the fact that you are using an old, out of date browser?

Microsoft admitted that the page couldn't be viewed through browsers other than theirs, but the fixed that earlier this morning. I didn't hear about IE not working, though. I was on at 7 am looking at it using IE 5 and it seemed to work fine.

Even if there was a problem....it is really not huge. Typically, web page errors can be fixed in no time at all once the problem is discovered. Sh#t happens.

I think the IE 5.5 SP2 service pack and IE 6 browser debacle where MS removed support for plugins was a much bigger deal. Hundreds of thousands of people wasted their time trying to fix the unfixable to view videos with Quicktime(was only available in plugin form) on a browser page. About a month later, Quicktime finally released an ActiveX control which would work...FINALLY. I don't know who is to blame...most likely MS for not giving fair warning to anyone. That transition was anything but smooth. All MS did was create an obscure TechNet article stating they removed support for plugins while hosing consumers and businesses alike. Time and money were lost. They might as well have unleashed a virus. That was HUGE in comparison.
