according to CCTV-5 on coolstreaming. Maybe JVG thinks that Yao needs some rest. It is now interesting to watch how Rockets perform without Yao.
Yeah, the Rockets derailed in the 4th qtr w/o Yao. They were basically derailed the whole game without the inside presence of Yao.
I think he was asking about the injury. But again, JVG does NOT make the decision whether or not to play a player, Keith Jones (I believe) makes that decision. I don't think the so-called injury is anything serious, KJ probably just thought that the Rockets don't need to reaggrevate it so it doesn't become anything serious. Anyways, I might be lone in this, but I honestly think that JVG's priority should be to rest T-Mac and Yao if he can, when he can. That is why a lost game to the Hornets that would have got us closer to clinching a playoff birth was a big deal, IMO.
According this sohu.com exclusive, It's Yao himself who claimed his leg was too sore at the pre-game practice. When they examed the leg, Yao was told no play tonight. http://sports.sohu.com/20050402/n224985857.shtml
http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/printstory.mpl/sports/bk/bkn/rox/3114474 The Rockets are still unsure if Yao will rejoin the team Sunday. The injury occurred against Phoenix three weeks ago. He continued playing, but the pain never really subsided. By Friday afternoon, the Rockets decided to have an MRI. Rockets coach Jeff Van Gundy said the results caused the Rockets to sit Yao. Rockets trainer Keith Jones, however, downplayed the seriousness and said, "The tests revealed there was nothing there." Van Gundy told Mutombo an hour before Friday's game that he would start. Mutombo said he expects Yao to be back in the starting lineup Sunday. "I think his leg has been bothering him and they just wanted to give him another 48 hours of rest," Mutombo said.
Thanks for you guys' update. Although I'm in "rest-Yao/TMac-a-couple-of-games" camp, I hate it be real, true, game-threatening injury.
