Just reWatched Donnie Darko and I still don't get it I get the general premise My friend swears it is so deep and full of meaning etc I just don't get it. . . just seems kind of 'eh' to me Alot of Stars in it. . even the Guy from KNOCK UP is in it. . . Rocket River
Titanic and The English Patient both sucked. All the movies mentioned before are great, M Falls mostly because of the sex scenes, however.
*Mulholland Drive *12 Monkeys *Knocked Up Hard to make the case that it's the movies that dont make sense when you guys can't even remember the correct titles : ) Donnie Darko is a case of bad storytelling but cool dialog and scenes. Anyone who claims to "get it" is kidding themselves. There are no themes that transcend the plot. It's just a movie that people can talk about liking cause it makes them seem deep.
Lost in translation, I still don't get it. Aside from the opening scene, inwhich we are introduced to scarlett wearing boyshorts, i found it to be a complete waste of time. Murray's character doesn't even get to hit it i wanted to post the still image of her butt, but it was to risky: http://glamourmag.typepad.com/fashionbeauty__fashion/images/fash060731.jpg
I corrected it. I just came back from a business trip to Niagra Falls. BTW, the Canadien side is so much nicer than the American side.
I didn't "get" Donnie Darko and Mullholland Drive, but I enjoyed them (if that makes sense). One movie I didn't "get" or enjoy was Lost In Translation. It made me want to hurt people.
You suck, Lost in Translation is my all time favorite movie, I get it. I didn't really get 'Everything is Illuminated', it was an ok movie I guess, just wish I understood it more.
eternal sunshine..blah blah etc. with jim carrey. i understood it, but i didn't get the praise of it. it was too long and mindf*cky
I find the beauty of Donnie Darko being that the intellectual intricisies are mostly subtle and take a back seat to the story of the characters. You really could watch it 100 times and not "get" it, but once someone explains it to you it makes a lot more sense.
Napoleon Dynamite is up there. But it has to be There's Something About Mary for me...I just didn't understand what was so funny about it. Traffic was another one...15 minutes in and I couldn't wait for it to be over.
Lost in Translation was a great movie. If Bill Murray and Scarlett had had sex, it would have ruined it. "The Science of Sleep" is so dumb in my opinion. I have a lot of friends who swear by the "indie" films...and they'll gush about any movie that looks cool and artsy and different. It's really annoying, because most of those movies suck. My friend LOOOVED Science of Sleep, so I rented it, it's just about the most pointless movie I've seen, plus you can tell its trying way too hard to appeal to the artsy crowd. I don't get why Chuck & Larry was so funny to people. I didn't understand what was so great about the Simpsons. I feel like I'm getting more and more picky about movies. Best movie ever and one I saw for the first time last night though: Shawshank Redemption. I am so dumb for not watching that one years ago.
oh yea, i forgot...Transformers. actually, i get it *steaming pile of cow ***** but i just wanted to say how much it sucks again.
