What do you think? Goth Wonka? Do you think Depp will sing?

Personally, I'm pretty stoked... and it comes out during my birthday month!

oh yeah, if it's a musical (like the original), i'd expect Depp to sing. didn't he do all his own singing in that movie Babyface?(was that the name?)

I think this movie is going to be the shiznit. I'm totally excited. Depp and Burton are always awesome and I think the only people to make this movie.

i really hope it goes well, remakes have a low record of success to the purists. C&tCF is simply a classic, but of all the directors out there, i trust burton to continue and make it scary for kids.

from what I understand, Burton is staying truer to the book than the original movie... I hope it's dark, dark, dark.....

There's no earthly way of knowing
    Which direction we are going
There's no knowing where we're rowing
Or which way the river's flowing
    Is it raining?
    Is it snowing?
    Is a hurricane a-blowing?
Not a speck of light is showing
So the danger must be growing
Are the fires of hell a-glowing?
    Is the grisly reaper mowing?
Yes, the danger must be growing
'Cause the rowers keep on rowing
    And they're certainly not showing
Any signs that they are slowing!

[sarcasm] They also need to redo the Mona Lisa. In fact, they need to start redoing everything so it can all be modern with cool new awesome special effects. Books need to be redone too. [/sarcasm level 10]

this reminds me of my favorite post ever...Mrs. JB, when first told that Johnny Depp would be playing Willy Wonka, said:

"Chocolate + Johnny Depp = best movie ever!"

    I'm looking forward to it!

How can Burton + Depp possibly go wrong!

I know there is a huge problem with crappy remakes, but I mean, when it comes to making a movie based on a book, I don't really care as long they are trying to be true to the book.

Also, this movie is Charlie and the Chocalate Factory, not Willy Wonka & the Chocalate Factory:D

I may suck and lose all my movie credibility with all of the critics here but I liked Sleepy Hallow. It shouldnt have won an academy award but it was entertaining.

    I love the original.

    I love Gene Wilder.

    I love Tim Burton.

    I like Johnny Depp.

I have my concerns over how this movie will turn out. Burton is a tremendous storyteller. He has a real way with fairy tales and, in that sense, this should be no different. I just don't know how you can top Gene Wilder. The guy was pure genius.

I think the film will look better and will probably be a more interesting/creepy thing. I think it will also be uplifiting. Burton always is (I'm keeping my eye out for that redemptive snow he has at the end of almost every movie).

I'm going into this one skeptical but hopeful..
