I'm sure you all know the mess this movie is in right now, the whole backstory in its development, etc. And the trailer has been out for awile now. I've been really skeptical since Singer left and Ratner was brought in to direct and nothing has changed. In fact, aside from a trailer that did raise my hopes a little bit, I am worried this film will fail miserably (and am almost wishing it so). And here's reason why (found this over at aintitcool). This is real. But this makes more sense.
It's everything. Awesome actor, awesome character. What more could a girl ask for? (the sideburns and the scruff are just a bonus )
Well I'm glad somebody else agrees with me about how stupid those posters are. I mean, if you don't know, Wolverine is basically Clint Eastwood (Dirty Harry crossed with his character from Leone's movies). Look at him, that's not even a natural pose. I bet if you tried that yourself, the trashcan would instantly tip over and you'd fall on your ass. It's like they hired some wannabe photog from straight out of highschool to take these pictures. There was a perfect picture in Entertainment Weekly recently, this it what an X-Men poster should be like: This movie is gonna blow, a lot of people are going to watch it when it opens though. I'll wait to see what the critics say, but they liked the first one, loved the 2nd one, and I think the general consensus on the third one will be that it blows. I could be wrong and will admit it if that is the case. You know, I am a big fan and all and that's why this annoys me, but I watch bad movies all the time. So normally, I'd go see this even if it was bad. But the way this movie was made is what bugs me. The people behind this weren't thinking about making a movie, doing something creative and special, and I don't even think they thought too much about the bottom line. This movie is supposed to be an FU to Warner Bros. and Bryan Singer. They pushed this thing into production without taking time to write a script. The only thing they had done right was hire an interesting director in Matthew Vaughn, but I'm sure he walked off weeks before shooting started because he knew that they weren't doing what was neccessary to make a good movie. So I too hope this blows up in their face and that they learn an important lesson.
That lesson being.... let Singer do his Superman movie than let him come back to finish what he started with X-Men (thereby making a worthy sequel). The word and pics I've been seing screams "rushed." But Fox has been screwing up a lot of franchises lately, so this wouldn't be anything new.
