Whatcha think about this soon-to-be releaseed movie? trailer: http://vforvendetta.warnerbros.com release date: March 17th, 2006 Note: Natalie Portman in a short pink dress (superbowl trailer).
Hugo Weaving to Natalie in Agent Smith voice: "Mrs. Portttttmannnn..." That's going to be some scary shiznit. I will go see it. Look at the list of 3d and 2d and CG artists involved. This movie is going to have PLENTY of "special effects". Can't wait to see Weaving in another great role. Uhhh... Rocket G... why include the first poster's reply in your response...? We know who you're responding to...
Ha! Just used to hitting "reply" down there i guess! Actually, the movie was screened at AICN's Butt-Numb-A-Thon & the audience apparently went nuts for it. I think Alan Moore also wrote League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, and THAT was the movie he disowned b/c it strayed so far from the book...
If anyone has the chance, read the comic-con transcript (or watch the video - no QuickTime on my work computer) on the V website. Many of the questions for Natalie Portman are kinda creepy.
Well... MOORE SLAMS V FOR VENDETTA MOVIE, PULLS LoEG FROM DC COMICS Alan Moore, co-creator of the "V For Vendetta" comic, has publicly disassociated himself from the upcoming Warner Brothers movie project based on the comic book and written and produced by the Wachowski Brothers. And as a result, he has cut his remaining ties with DC Comics, including future volumes of the "League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen." However, I did hear that audiences have liked it. Even one of the AICN guys who is a big fan of the comic called it the 2nd best movie of last year (got an advanced screening). I'm thinking Alan Moore may just be a bit of a prima donna and a bit possessive in terms of his work...seems pretty common amongst comic writers. Although LoXG was, in fact, terrible! I just finished the V for Vendetta graphic novel, and was in awe by it. Can't wait for the movie!
That's what I've heard too. Definitely looking forward to it. Anything with Natalie Portman is good by default.
Wow, DCkid... Hadn't seen that. Maybe it's like you suggest & Alan Moore is just an ass. I had read the LXG comic, and they were very good - especially the LXG-War of the Worlds arc. The movie was freaking horrible though...
I don't think he's an ass, they just really f*ck his sh*t up when they make them into movies. In the case of V for Vendetta though, it wasn't so much as the movie and the script made him mad, it was that he kind of decided already to not have anything to do with movie adaptations ever again. It's like, "ok, make the movies, but don't mention me as being involved or anything" but during the original press junket and other interviews, the producer, Joel Silver, kept saying how happy Moore was with the script and that's he's given his blessing etc. That's what pissed him off because it was total BS. I also don't like how the marketing keeps saying it's "An uncompromising vision of the future from the creators of 'The Matrix' trilogy." It's not their vision, it's their adaptation. Oh, and definately read the book. Buy it, preferably, but you can download it. Just make sure you get a this program: http://www.geocities.com/davidayton/CDisplay
It'll be a while. It was already to go and in pre-production at Paramount with a script by David Hayter (he co wrote the first 2 X-Men movies and you might recognize him as the voice of Solid Snake) and directed by Paul Greengrass (Bourne Supremacy). But I think there was a changing of the guard of Paramount executives and the new guys didn't want to do it, so I think WB has the rights now, but it will be with a whole new script and director. At least that's how I remember it, my facts might be off, you can look it up.
That took a lot of work though. Robert Rodriguez wasn't the first guy to want to make Sin City. People tried for years to get the rights and Frank Miller always refused. When Rodriguez threw the idea out there, he was told there was no way in hell Miller would allow anybody to make the movie. He had to keep going to Miller until he finally convinced him to come down to Austin where they would film the short story "The Customer is Always Right" (the opening scene of the movie) and if Miller liked what he saw, then they could procede from there.
Yeppers I heard a little about the movie I'm afraid they will f' it up Rocket River next . .THE WATCHMEN [I hope they do it in anime or something]
