I searched and I'm a little surprised that this movie doesn't have a thread. Anyway...It's directed by Kenneth Branagh. Synopsis: Marvel Studios expands its film universe with a new type of superhero: THOR. This epic adventure spans the Marvel Universe; from present day Earth to the realm of Asgard. At the center of the story is The Mighty Thor, a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. Thor is cast down to Earth and forced to live among humans as punishment. Once here, Thor learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends the darkest forces of Asgard to invade Earth. Aint It Cool News Thor Links Thor: Chris Hemsworth (Kirk's dad in the new Star Trek movie) Loki: Tom Hiddleston Jane Alexander (love interest): Natalie Portman Sif (badass Asgardian warrior chick): Jamie Alexander
I know one thing for sure. It won't take too much creativity for the p*rn industry to parody this one.
Thor definitely wasn't my favorite superhero growing up and I don't have much interest in this movie right now, but he was my brother's #1 Marvel hero by far. To each his own. I'm gonna predict this movie comes nowhere close to the success of Spiderman or Iron Man.
I never liked thor for some reason. He did a good job in the 80's classic, Adventures in babysitting. =)
The look has to be gritty and aggressive like this. You can't go with a pretty boy in armor aka Brad Pitt in Troy or Ben Affleck in Daredevil.
I don't like the guy they cast. I know they tested Alexander Skarsgård from True Blood and Generation Kill, I can't believe they didn't like him. The guy is 6'4" and his last name is Skarsgård.
Yeah, I agree that he fits the part of a brooding norse warrior. He even plays one in a True Blood flashback. AICN even mentions this. Should have been him. But he's not the greatest actor, IMO. Probably why Kenneth Branagh didn't cast him.
Funny thing is I was just thinking about who they could play as Thor, I immediately thought up of the villain from the King Arthur movie that Clive Owen was in. Turns out he's the father of Alex Skarsgard, Stellan.
Norse mythology is my favorite and in the Marvel universe, Thor was always one of my favorite heroes. I'm looking forward to this one quite a bit.
I'm sorry...but you absolutely do not have a Thor movie without the lead being filled by Techno Viking. End. Of. Casting. Process. Period.

Jude Law and Robert DeNiro are now in the flick. Link Are Jude Law and Robert DeNiro aboard THOR? Seems like they are, but as who? Hey folks, Harry here with the latest bit of Superhero Film Casting News and it is very strange indeed. According to actor, Matthias Schweighöfer, who you may have seen in VALKYRIE or RED BARON - in an article in the German edition of Gentlemen's Quarterly aka GQ, he states that he's in the running for a role in Branagh's THOR, but he also mentions that Jude Law and Robert DeNiro have joined the cast. Now, I don't doubt that they have, they're very much the sort of Actor I would expect from a Kenneth Branagh helmed THOR film, I'm just absolutely flummoxed to think who they are playing. I have to give thanks to our German reader, "I SAY THEE F-ING KA-JAY!" for giving me the heads up on the article. And for that matter, who would Matthias Schweighöfer play? Interesting times as these Superhero films rush to begin shooting soon!
I know it can't fly as another villain, but Willem DeFoe would have been a good Loki. Maybe Dennis Leary too... would have been GREAT!!!! But I see they decided to go with younger actors... coolio.
