I haven't seen any threads on this movie but if there is lock it up. Has anybody seen this movie? I don't normally like movies very much let alone horror movies cause they're corny and way unreal. However the previews for this movie actually makes me want to go to the theater and watch it. Without spoiling the movie can anybody give any opinions about it?
My friend told me it sucked. You know what her reasoning was? It was TOO SCARY! Thats enough to make me want to go see it. Plus Ive heard nothing but positive reviews about it.
It was Meh... Unlike some of the torture p*rn that has passed for horror movies lately, the director here does a good job of actually building tension. There are a number of good creepy scenes and a number of "jump" scenes. The bad was I thought the acting and script were subpar. Also, I don't want to spoil it, but I felt the director used a couple identical tension building techniques a few times too many. There is also the standard stupid ("no don't do that!") victim moves that is a staple of horror/slasher pics. So overall kind of a mediocre horror movie, though, I'd be interested in what the director could do with a slightly better script and actors.
I seen it........I mean its good enough to watch but the people in the theaters would laugh at everything they did.......As if it was a comedy.....Didnt let me enjoy the movie.. But........it is not at all the hype of its preview on TV..... But it is watchable but you will be like WTF are you doing!!!!! 7.2/10
The whole premise is that 1.4 million people are murdered in the U.S. by people they know. But sometimes people get murdered by total strangers. Spoiler They were being terrorized in their summer home just because "they were home" Some movies sound like a good idea but then when you actually finish it, its like "oh, that's why this movie wasn't made before". There were some good scares though but it was more out of the stupidity of the characters most of the time.
It's actually been made a number of times before. While not a direct remake, it close enough to the plot of recent movies like Them and Funny games . Those two, particularly, Them, were better received movies.
The original Funny Games messed me up for a couple of days ... strong movie. I recently downloaded the remake of it, but have yet to watch it. So, yeah, if you watch The Strangers and think it's almost-but-not-quite-there, try watching Funny Games.
This movie sucked HARRRRRRD. I should have gone and watched Kung Fu Panda instead. I mean don't get me wrong--I love a good horror movie as much as the next guy. But if it's just a horror movie without ANY plot (even the worst ones have some kind of story to it), without ANY direction, and without ANY good bursts of jump-out-of-my-seat moments, it's not a horror movie at all.
The trailer looks oh sooo good though. I'll have to lower my expectations and go in without expecting too much.
You dont see any good horror movies these days, with that being said it was ok. Far from the worst plus there were plenty of "jump" sences if you like that.
My friend told me he found the movie funny and not scary... But then again I laugh nervously when I get scared so maybe he meant it was really scary
There was nothing funny about it. It was a suspenseful movie, and it built up a great atmosphere (especially with the music) but nothing ever really happened. Like a jet on a runway for a couple hours and never taking off. Had potential but nothing happened. The music alone makes it worth watching, but not paying for it.
I thought it wasnt too bad, I actually enjoyed it...its not too scary, but its intense pretty much throughout the whole movie. And the music is freakin creepy.
I saw it and regret it. Worst movie I have seen in the past couple of years and I watch quite a few movies.
The movie is horrible... there really was no storyline and was just like any other scary flick... the "scary" parts just consisted of a sudden noises, actions, etc. and those parts are all very predictable... Spoiler This is why I don't watch scary movies anymore... it left me with a feeling of... "So who were the killers? Why did they do it?" They don't even explain it.
Spoiler I think that's the point of the movie. They were strangers who had no rhyme or reason to who they picked, just that they were home.
