directed by m.night shamylan (spelling?) http://www.firstshowing.net/2009/06/23/first-teaser-for-m-night-shyamalans-the-last-airbender/ This looks pretty damn awesome! (for anyone who's seen the cartoon) It looks like it isn't going the "dragon ball route".
Dude 6 months and 2010 will be here..Yet a year before the movies goes into theaters. I love avatar. This movie better be awesome.

Manoj better no F*** this movie up I just finished watching the cartoon last week and absolutely loved it
The one thing I've learned about any and all M. Night movies is that he makes the best trailers in Hollywood. He even figured out a way to make The Happening look good for 30 seconds.
no kidding. He better not **** this up.I will go ape **** if all the characters are white(no offense white people ) just like Dragon ball.
he can't go wrong with slumdog in it... and from personally knowing manoj...he says this movie will not disappoint...
Er, the whole cast is white. Except for Dev Patel who's playing Zuko. I don't have high hopes for this exact reason. It's an Asian themed show and you have a mostly white cast. That clash of cultures is going to look cheesy, I know it.
I'm more excited for the real Avatar. http://www.firstshowing.net/2009/06/23/first-footage-and-photos-from-avatar-revealed-at-cinexpo/
Man, it's going to be realy cool seeing Aang, Toph, Katara, Zuko, and Sokka in live action. Yeah, I hate the whitewashing of the cast as much as anyone, but I love Avatar so damn much there's no way I'm not gonna see this film. Only thing that would make that trailer better would be if they made it using The Track Team's epic battle theme from the show. Also I HATE how M. Night Shyamalan put his name over the title like that. Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko created this entire world and the epic 61 episode series about the characters within it. All Shyamalan was direct the movie depiction of it. This is not his. How do you even get away with something like that?
........wait, really? You already half ruined the movie for me But anyways yea the trailer looked amazing in HD on GameTrailers
Yeah, dude's gotta be one of the biggest narcissists in the world. You'd think after his last two movies got panned so bad it might have humbled him a little...guess not.
Doesn't matter how involved or not he was with the original concept. It's about name recognition. If the trailer replaced his name with the other two, no one outside of Avatar would know them or even care. Plus, this is the movie, not the show. And M. Night not only directed but wrote the screenplay. And people know who M. Night is; once upon a time he made some great films. So most likely they're using that to bring moviegoers into the theater. Not exactly fair to the original creators, I agree. It's like those trailers of Transformers. A number of them recognize Spielberg as executive producer. They're using that to bring people in, but Spielberg, in reality had just about nothing to do with the production. I'm not sure how I feel about the trailer though. I never watched the show, save for a few moments, but I am familiar with the material somewhat. In any case, from a film standpoint, the trailer looked like it was trying to be epic, but it kind of had a Dragonball, Legen of Chun Li or any other bad video game to live action movie adaption vibe. I'm hoping it rocks though, for both moviegoers and M. Night's sake.
Since this is going to be a trilogy I guess they'll just divide this by the seasons? Its nice to think they can actually dedicate time to tell the story at a natural pace, but do they really have enough material to make 3 installments? Enough development and plot outside of the humor and filler episodes? It doesnt have near the following DB/DBZ did, but I hope they can do a lot better job, because Avatar was such a well written/researched series.
Well of course I can understand the need for name recognition. what I don't like is his name over the title in the possesive form as if the entire thing was his concept. It could be featured prominently in a "directed by" or "M. Knight presents" form. I dunno, it's just that the way it's put there really seems like it something that would piss me off if I was one of the creators that worked hard to make this world of shows/games/comics. (plus his movies as of late have almost completely ruined the benefit of having his name attached the the title. "The Happening" was terrible. Ugh.) Also, as far as the trailer goes, I do have to say it would have been helped by not having the voice-over. The best high quality trailers NEVER use movie voice guy anymore, and it's been that way for years. Hopefully they improve in this aspect on the theatrical trailer.
Yeah I definitely see your point...if this was Lady in the Water or Signs or 6th Sense, something of his own creation, then it makes sense he would attach his name in that fashion. But you don't see "Michael Bay's Transformers" or "McGg's Terminator: Salvation." I'd imagine Hasbro and Cameron would be pretty pissed off if that happened.
Couple more trailers. Can't really tell if the VO is supposed to be movie voice guy or Roku (the last avatar). Either way, i hate it. Otherwise, cool trailers. <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/-egQ79OrYCs&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/-egQ79OrYCs&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object> <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/dpR98cVozeY&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/dpR98cVozeY&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>
