Anyone else pumped about this movie coming out this weekend?? I'm going to see it Friday, I am a huge horror movie fan and this remake with the added story lines looks very promising.. FYI this movie is a remake of the Wes Craven classic by the same name.. Wes is overseeing the project and the movie is being done by Alexandre Aja of "High Tension" Rotten Tomatoes link below.. http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/10006072-hills_have_eyes/
I'm a huge horror fan as well and I'm pretty excited about this flick, hope it doesn't dissappoint. The 70's Hills always left me feeling like there was a lot more they could have done with the story and from the trailers for the remake it looks like they are exploring a lot more to the mutated aspect of the story that the 70's flick missed.
Cannot possible be worse than WHEN A STRANGER CALLS or FINAL DESTINATION 3 [or HEY let's have a bunch of GORY DEATHS . . . not even any real POP OUTS] Rocket River
Those 2 looked pretty horrible to begin with, have no idea how "Stranger" ending up being the #1 movie on it's first weekend.. Hills looks like it could be pretty decent as a horror movie and it's from the guy who did High Tension, one of my favorite horror flicks from last year.
I got to see the movie yesterday.. this movie can be best described in one word... HORRIBLE So much for the "added story" ..this movie is made to draw in the high school date crowd not the hardcore horror fan At one point one of the dogs is the smartest characters in the movie.. This was a HUGE letdown for me.. Take my advice, if you’re a horror fan WAIT till the DVD… totally LAME!!
WOW, I'm the complete opposite, I thought it was great. It had the gore and the jumpy parts. I'd give it an A
I hate movies that have "jumpy parts". And, honestly, this is what hurts the horror genre the most. People forget the difference between being startled and being scared. Startling is just invoking a natural nervous reaction. An immeidate burst seems to threaten your safety and your refelexes and impulses respond accordingly. There's nothing scary about it. A scary movie is something else entirely. It actually invokes fear in you and frightens you. This is much more difficult to accomplish, and this is why there are so few great horror films and so many fly-by-night "jumpy" movies. regading The Hills Have Eyes.... I'll probably download it off the net.
I'm not saying Jumpy parts are the best thing, it's just whenever a movie sorta like Hostel come out, people knocked it for not making them jump or the like. They were just grossed out, thats why I thought The Hills Have Eyes did a good job of showing gore and getting that jumpy action as well, works well for both crowds. I thought Hostel was good, I like the gore in that movie, but a lot of people walking out of that movie said "that wasnt really scary, just disgusting" thats why I feel adding the jumpy parts works well, because most feel thats when their "scared" not just a reflex like you said.
I hate the "jumpy" horror movies. Why even have a monster? You could just call the film "ATTACK OF THE SUDDEN FLASHES OF MOVEMENT."
yeah i have grown very tired of all the i guess you would say fast movement/flashes of light/loud sound/ weird images - sequences of movies. the first one i can remember it occuring in was 13 ghosts. it seemed to have a decent plot. and some neat looking monster/bad guys but every time it showed them they were darting around on the screen and going crazy. and theres been tons of movies in the last several years that do the same thing. pretty annoying
Classic. My favorite. I also liked The Ring (American). Tales of Two Sisters (Korean) is pretty creepy too.
I haven't seen The Ring. I didn't like Blair Witch, but I respect the hell out of it. It was a brilliant concept that found success for the small filmmaker. It didn't depend on the cheesy "jumpy" elements, it investigated a unique method for filming, and it didn't kill me with a cheesy musical score (I call this "death by soundtrack"). If I hadn't found the characters annoying, and if the story made sense to me, I might have enjoyed it more (I, too, didn't understand it until I read the explanation listed above).
you must mean the original I don't think the Steven Webber one was all that good The Shining was ok it didn't SCARE me Rocket River
Blair Witch sucked but I have never been lost in the woods so the experience was lost to me Rocket River kind of like that movie about the two people stuck in the middle of the ocean for 2 days or something
