I know of some other clips, like the "Making of..." documentary shown on Starz recently, plus various trailers and clips (one of which is like the last clip above, but goes a little further). But that should be enough for now.

My mom seems interested in the movie, which was a bit surprising to me. I'm just hoping that it doesn't suck like all the other video game movies. Some of the trailers already look a bit cheesy, so I'm not expecting a film worthy of an Oscar; still, I'm hoping it turns out to be a decent movie. Some of the clips I've seen seem to do the game justice, and the crew seemed to know what they were doing. If it turns out OK, maybe other directors will try to do better when making a movie based on a video game.

BTW, I would have waited later in the week to make this thread, but I also wanted to mention that BET will be airing a special on the movie in about an hour (6:30 PM central). That might be worth checking out…especially since I’m a little confused as to why BET is doing it.

RC, it's nice to know that you are expanding your BBS horizons from video games to movies based on video games. If you have the time one day, I'd love to get your thoughts on the Super Mario Brothers Super Show that was on TV back in the early 90's. :D

ok, at the risk of sounding like a p***y, i could never play silent games to the finish. i played part 1 about 3/4 of the way through, got sidetracked, and never finished. i bought part 2 and just couldn't get the nerve to play it much. with that said, i'll definitely be checking this movie out. games are just more intense than movies for me. i guess alot of times when i'm playing them, i'm alone. :(

Games generally don't freak me out..I played Resident Evil 1 and 2 no problem and people said those were scary. The only game that has literally given me chills was Fatal Frame II ...that is a freakin scary game.

Silent Hill doesn't look too shabby. I've been looking for a movie to go... haven't been to one since V.

I did the same thing. A buddy and I played for hours one day, he had to go home and I couldn't bring myself to turning it back on.

Resident Evil scared the crap out of me because it was really the first of it's kind and I was pretty young. RE2 wasn't that scary to me and I never really played the other ones.

Have any of ya'll played Eternal Darkness for GameCube? That is still one of the creepiest games I have ever played.

I got to the end of SH 1 but cheated by standing at the top of the stairs and shooting all my bullets into the dark....which killed whatever was downstairs.

u must be on some super crack or something. This is probably the only game to motion picture movie i can say actually looks good. As long as they dont screw around too much with the story its gonna be great. i will go out on a limb and say this will be the best video game movie ever. only other game movie that was decent was mortal kombat 1, and as for part 2...well we will pretend that one never happened.

I'm not even sure what to expect. Some of the trailers of the movie that are shown on TV make the movie look pretty cheesy (especially the narrator’s lines). If I had only seen those trailers, I probably wouldn't have high hopes for the movie. But then I see a clip from the movie with Cybil and Rose alone in a room. A scene with pure silence...until you hear a large sword being dragged on the ground. Stuff like that gets me excited about the movie since I think some of those things from the games (the sound effects, the music, the creature designs, etc.) could make for an interesting movie if done right...and I think it is being done right, at least in some scenes.

Speaking of the trailers, I'm kind of surprised at the amount of advertising the movie is getting. I don't think the movie had a big budget, yet I keep seeing trailers for it. There was even a sneak peak right after Monday Night Raw, although it was one of the clips shown in the original post I think. Even if it does suck, it might get some decent box office numbers considering all the marketing it has received. FWIW, the director (Christophe Gans) has said that he'd do a sequel if the movie did well.

Silent Hill is the only game to have scared me. Creep me out that is. Plenty of games can make you jump. But SH made me see and hear things in the dark.

I dunno, from the trailers I've seen it looks like B-movie cheese. I'll probably wait til it's a rental. The whole concept of the movie just doesn't interest me really.

Yeah, I don't disagree about the trailers (some of them anyway...the very first one and a few others are OK). Those are the ones that get me worried about the movie. But again, once I watch some of the clips from the movie and read interviews with various members of the crew (especially the director), I start to feel a little better. I got freaked out by the music, sounds, and creatures in the games, and at least some scenes from the movie seem to offer the same experience. I'm thinking/hoping that might be something that can transfer from game to film quite well. The acting might not be top-notch and some parts of the story might be kind of B-movie esque, but I think the movie could still be entertaining thanks to the elements it has taken from the games.

I beat part 1 and 3. I just dont think the movie will be able to capture the feel of the game. I dont think it will be very good.

Here's a ~7 minutes clip from Silent Hill that aired on MTV (again, there's a lot of advertising):

As usual, there are some spoilers in the link, so don't watch it if you don't want to see them. I kind of liked this one for various reasons, especially the music. I was worried that they wouldn't bother using some of the great tracks from the games, but maybe not. That's nice to know. :)

    To Whom it May Concern:

Please stop showing the damn preview of your creepy ass movie over and over again during Astros games when my 6 year old is watching with me. Thanks in advance for your cooperation. Freaks.

    Cordially,

    Me

Cool, that was a neat effect with the walls rotting and peeling away. Certainly it could be a good movie, but I'm not getting my hopes up. What looked the worse to me (from the other previews) was the CG of the monsters. Looked incredibly fake and cheaply done. To me, it doesn't matter how good the acting is, how incredible a story line or plot can be, if you use CG as a crutch and then do it poorly, there is no saving the film. It just takes you immediatly out of the movie everytime you see it.

As for the games, I thought the first and second were moderately creepy, although I never finished either (they weren't my copies of the game). Never played 3.
