Saw it yesterday with the family, didn't see a thread on it. I thought it was just ok, not really all that good, and not even close to the high levels of the first and second Shreks. And the things I was really dissappointed in were the story and music. Two stars....tops. DD
This was the first one I've seen, thought it a bit irreverent. It was a nice one hour 33, but it wasn't that great.
Why? I don't understand... WHY HOLLYWOOD?? Why must you do this? I'm getting real tired of animation.. it gets worst and worst by the year. The Last good animation I saw was "Monsters Inc".. and for a more recent one, "Madagascar." It's probably safe to say that I won't be seeing any animation for a while, at least not in the movies. I don't care what the gf says.. I'm not going.
You didn't like the music? C'mon, how can you go wrong with Live and Let Die, Barracuda, and The Immigrant Song? The only thing that was slightly disappointing was that there wasn't a musical number, like the one the fairy godmother had in Shrek 2...
I was kinda let down by this one. Shrek 2 was my favorite one, so I thought they were really going to bring it for the last one.
Shrek 3, along with Spiderman 3, were both let-downs. Neither was horrible, but I was sure disappointed overall, esp with all the hype re: Spidey.
I just came back from watching. It was ok, had a few laughs, but nothing memorable. Also, there were a few really annoying, loud and obnoxious kids .
there was also a baby who kept crying, when i watched shriek. overall this movie was terrible. i hated the storyline. alot.
I didn't think it was bad but I was certainly disapointed. It seemed to lack a lot of the creativity the others had, which I both loved. The funny thing is that I was watching it, kind of disapointed but thinking to myself, "Let's at least see what kind of blowout ending they do and also how they'll incorporate the big musical number (ie: karaoke int he first, American Idol-esque spoof in the second)." But, we got neither. All we got was Puss and Donkey singing in and out of the credits just like every other animated movie. Again, I didn't think it was bad, but it had a lot to live up to and didn't get there. Plus, it didn't help they showed some of the funnier moments in the commercials/trailers leading up to it's release.
I think a lot of what was missing was the introduction of new fairy tale creatures and how they intertwined in the story. I think overall the story was lame. DD
Uhhh... we're talking about SHREK here, man. My wife and I both fell asleep during this movie but my girls enjoyed it... wait, they're 8 and 6 years old, maybe that's why. Oh, and we would have loved to have a baby keep crying to keep us awake. [*][*][*][ ][ ] 3/5 Stars
i fell asleep for about 15 minutes in the middle. it wasn't necessarily the movie's fault but if i was being entertained i could have stayed up. this one pretty much blows. spiderman was ok, pirates was pretty good, i hope ocean's 13 finally gives us a great part 3 this summer.
I agree. Im really excited for that one. If it turns out to be bad, what a bad summer for movies this will be.
