I just checked out the movie a couple of nights ago and have to say I loved it. One of my favorites this year. Great story, very likeable cast and a near flawless presentation by Guy Ritchie. Definitely recommended. Anyone else got around to checking it out yet? What did y'all think? Lastly, I don't know if Ritchie or the writers came up with the character, but he is an interesting one. I hope they make a sequel so I can learn of more adventures from Downey's role.
man... i think he's cereal. not booberries either. good stuff. edit: here ya go, wakko... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sherlock_Holmes
Surprised we didn't have a thread on this. I saw it on Christmas night and I loved it. Though after seeing it I realized that the ads for that phone service where you text questions and they give you answers gave away a bit of a spoiler.
Sequel part + "witty" sig leads me to believe he's pop tarts. (get it? not cereal?) (That wasn't witty either)
It's possible he was saying that this Sherlock Holmes doesn't resemble the true Sherlock Holmes, but if you've read enough Holmes you know that Doyle didn't care about continuity very much and changed Holmes up a few times and that this movie lifted from various facets of different stories.
I really liked the Jeremy Brett series, so it was hard for me not to compare the two even though I knew Ritchie was going to do his own version. Pretty enjoyable for what was advertised, but it felt a little long for some reason though. (Don't even think about it swoly.)
I thought it was a little long as well. Didn't know until the end credits that it was Ritchie, and am glad I didn't. I probably would have gone in with a different mindset. All in all, pretty entertaining. I thought the slow motion sequence was very well done (I didn't figure this was a spoiler since I was intentionally vague).
I really hope that this guy knows who Sherlock Holmes is...I really do. There is no way someone can believe this was the first iteration of the character and be a functional, non-Schaivo, member of humanity.
Thought it was very entertaining. Took the family to see it on Christmas night and we all enjoyed it. Not really a spoiler but I loved the scene with Watson, Holmes and the Flies. I damn near fell out of my seat laughing after that scene.
I saw it and did not like it. Thought it was slow, a bit boring, too long, and nothing really interesting happened.
Saw the flick today and really liked it, although it will irritate Arthur Conan Doyle/Holmes purists. I consider myself one, but still enjoyed it. My only major complaint is that it is more than a little bit LOUD. Rachel McAdams? I'd like to make her get LOUD!!
