So I got to go watch a very special screening tonight of a movie called Pineapple Express. When my friend first told me the name (like many others I'm sure) thought that it was going to be a weird ass movie. Then my friend told me it was from the same group of people that wrote/directed/acted in 40 Year Old Virgin, Knocked Up, and Superbad, all of which I have really enjoyed so I decided to go.

Plot: Dale (Seth Rogen) is an 25 year old process server who is dating an 18 year old high school, listens to talk radio, and most importantly is a huge pot head! His drug dealer, Sal, is gives him a new brand of weed called the Pineapple Express that he just got his hands on. As Dale goes to give Ted (Sal's drug kingpin) his subpoena papers, he witnesses Ted and a female cop murdering a member of the rival from the Asia drug gang. This sets off a chain off hilarious situations as Dale and Sal attempt to survive the crisis they just got themselves in.

I would definitely rate this movie a 9/10 and the only reason for that is because it was the first cut and there were parts in the movie where the picture wasn't great and the music sounded bad, but I'm pretty sure that they will fix those by the time it comes out.

Funny side note, Joan (forgot his last name) suck into the theaters like 5 minutes before the start of the movie was sat two rows in front of me. My friend saw him in line at the concessions and told me he had a bunch of girls on his jock!

I would definitely recommend this movie to everyone, only problem is that the scheduled release date for the movie is August 2008!

Damn man they are dropping those movies non-stop. Its like when boy bands flooded the market before they died. Good thing I love these movies.

Yeah. They are doing like one every year or so. I really enjoy these movies so to me, the more the merrier especially since each one so far has had a different plot, unlike the American Pies or Rush Hours which are recycling material.

I would definitely recommend this movie to everyone. Just non-stop laughter. Seth Rogen is too funny! And I love the fact that they are buddies and hire each other in the movies. Another funny side note, MadTV's Bobby Lee is part of the rival Asian Gang and Bobby Lee is funny.

Screening was at a Pacific Theaters in Northridge, CA (part of the greater Los Angeles area). Northridge is part of the San Fernando Valley which is part of Los Angeles County and a lot of stars live around here on the hills so they have a lot of special screenings and stuff here. I got to see a screen of 300 a year and a half before it came out with the actors and directors sitting behind me so that was pretty cool.

My friend (a film student at UCLA film school) is a big movie buff so him and his brother always get stuff like this and they invite me along. This one, his brother got tickets to while at another screening. He said that a lot of times, those people you see outside of movie theaters give out the fliers and they take it. I was surprised to hear that b/c I never know the names of the movies and always turn those people down. I was under the impression that those people only handed out fliers to crappy movies, but I was wrong.

Walk Hard is made by the same group too? That movie looks funny as hell. None of the same characters though from what I can tell. But I am pretty sure it mentioned the Superbad and Knocked Up creators or producers or somethin...

walk hard is directed by Jake Kasdan and Produced by Judd Apatow. Pineapple Express is the Rogan/Apatow combo that is winning the Gold Medals in the world of comedies... they have the Midas Touch. cant wit for this one...

I think the main character for Walk Hard (guy that was in the Ricky Bobby movie) is very funny also....

I'm the Magic Man, now you see me, now you don't!

    That scene was hilarious.

I saw a premier of this movie last night at Edwards Cinema, the movie was AWESOME. Its definately the 3rd best movie out this year (1. dark night, 2 iron man). I would suggest this one to everyone its great. Its hard to compare it to any other movie out because its different, the action/comedy genre has been lacking and this movie stepped up. If you think its just a stoner movie you are wrong, there is soo much more to it than that. I plan to watch it again when it comes out next week at the Movie Tavern where i can drink a few as i watch it.

i saw this a few months back at another screening (man sony screened the heck outta this film) it was pretty good I enjoyed it.

the weird thing is that most everyone i know that had an interest in watching it have already seen the movie through various screenings sony has put on maybe they went a bit overboard? all the screenings were free.
