I recently watched THE RING with a couple of friends and we can't seem to figure the ending out. Could someone please let me know what in the world the ending meant?
The girl was the evil one, and she wanted her story to be heard. She never sleeps, remember? So she will never stop. She has the power of thermography, the ability to place images on photo paper (or a VHS tape) with her mind. The woman made a copy of the girls story, so in effect she "repeated" the story for the girl. Thus, she was spared. That's why the woman was teaching her son how to make a copy...to pass the story on.
Behad's right. I remember when I saw this flick, I fell asleep early and missed the first half of the movie. That horse scene woke my ass up though, did that scene haunt anyone else? It took a week for myself to get over that... The ending was hilarious though, it was so stupid...definite guilty pleasure flick though. (It's in the mail on the way to my pad as I type this)
I've only seen the Japanese version. So I guess I can't really explain it, though they are the same movie.
