I done this many times with other movies and my family and friends have also asked me the same question. So is it considered weird if you go to the movies by yourself just as if you go to a restaurant by yourself (I don't do that and that is almost complete different)?
I've never gone to a movie alone... I think if you're comfortable doing it then it's fine. Some people are cool being alone. The people who think you're weird probably don't like to be alone.
I've done this several times. Most recently with Star Wars Episode III. Mostly if it's a movie I HAVE to see at the theatre and no one else wants to see it, I'll go during the day and catch a matinee. I don't think it's weird at all - unless you're in high school and/or you still give a rats ass about what people might think if they see you alone. Neither of which apply to me.
I go to movies alone. It makes the experience better. I've never gone to a sit-down restaurant alone though. Its nice to sit with people and be social at meals. Just something that seems more natural.
End thread. I have watched movies alone at home but never at a theater. It doesn't bother me when I see someone sitting in solitude watching a movie at a theater. The man who constantly needs a crowd is nothing alone.
It's not weird. I don't do it because I don't want to pay movie ticket prices if I'm the only one going. Less enjoyable for me. But I don't think it's weird that other people do it.
watching horror movies alone at home. Freaky especially with the surround sound. I've been on a blu-ray kick lately and man I watched Teeth last night. Thank god that was not a blu-ray title. I did NOT want to see some of those scenes in Hi-DEF
Doesn't necessarily mean you're weird, but I'll say that I've never went by myself. It just seems......weird... Not that you're weird, just feels weird...
Never done it, but it's not like you socialize while the movie is playing (unless you're one of those anoying people ) so it shouldn't matter. Now, eating alone at a sitdown resturant where you see everyone in a conversation...that seems a bit depressing.
If it is at the WHITE STALLION theater, no. Sincerely, Spoiler Also: "I can't go to a bad movie by myself. What, am I gonna make sarcastic remarks to strangers?" - name that episode (difficulty: easy)
I believe I read a study somewhere that 57% of the people who go to movies by themselves masturbate at some time during the flick.
I don't see why anyone would think that it is weird. I go to see a movie and not to have a chat about what's happening in the movie. I honestly love watching movies alone. Going to a restaurant alone, yeah that is a bit more interesting. But the only thing that would seem weird to me doing alone (and that comes to mind immediately) is getting drunk.
I love going to the movie alone. Even better I tend to go in the summer and see something that has been out for a while. I go a lot during the day and many times I have been the only person in the theater. I must be in the 43% from Shady's post. Never done that before.
I actually prefer to go to movies by myself more and more now unless a friend asks me to go with them or if I take a girl out on a date. I wont ask friends to go see a movie with me anymore though Its just easier for me to go see what I want to watch and not have to be bothered by anything. Most of the time when I go see a movie I prefer to just watch the movie and then go...The idle chit chat during the movie annoy me because I am trying to concentrate on the movie itself. Going to the movies isnt really a social outing i feel if its the main thing. like on a date i mean there is dinner and other things involved. also its easier for me to just get a seat no need to worry about needing to find 3-5 seats in a row etc. at first i thought it was weird but it makes more sense now than when i was younger. probably because i was more concern with "image" then. if someone sees me at the theater and thinks I am a loner, fine whatever its not really a big deal for me.
I prefer seeing a movie with someone and eating with someone, but have no problem doing either on my own. If I'm eating by myself, however, I always make sure I have something to read. If it means stopping and buying a newspaper, I'll do it, although I usually keep a book I'm reading in the car. No, I don't think it's weird.
