Yeah saw this movie tonight and it pretty much rocked. Critics are not kidding when they say this is one of the best Bonds since the Connery days. It beats anything Brosnan did by a longshot (save for Goldeneye). The thing I liked about it is that it was very grounded and was character driven, instead of focusing on some absurd and tired world-domination-type plot. And for all the naysayers...Daniel Craig is perfect as Bond. He fits this role of the character better than anyone else ever could have... ...96% rating on rottentomatoes; wonder what all the haters have to say now.
The opening was a little odd, for some reason; and I really felt like it was going toward a 'paint-by-the-numbers' Bond... until it got to the poker game. From there on out it was pretty solid. One of the better Bond movies, IMO.
Hmm...I wasn't one of the people who was bashing Daniel Craig but I still had reservations about the movie. First and foremost, I'm just not much of a Bond fan. Nice to hear that it's holding it's own (and then some). I'll probably have to check it out.
The main problem everyone had was a "blonde" Bond. It just seemed wrong. I'll hold judgement until I see the film.
I liked it. The problem I had with Craig being Bond was that he looked like a cold blooded killer and not some smooth sophisticated spy/killer. It took me a while to get used to it, but he fit into the tone of the movie perfectly. It's not that he was a great Bond, but rather the movie was made for him. I would liken the transition from the over-the-top Batmans to Batman Begins. It's a fairly long movie, but there aren't any dull spots. This is one of the best Bonds in the last 20 years...
This is why I'm actually considering seeing the movie. I'm not a bond fan, but the commercials make it seem like this isn't the typical bond offering.
Definitely a departure from the Bond franchise of humor, chicks and gadgets. It's darker and grittier and more violent; more focused on ' human' action. The pre-credits scene is a disappointment from the standard Bond dazzler but it the post-credits scene quickly recaptures the sense of awe. I like the campy Bond movies but I think everyone from the violent video game world will like this one better. Spoiler Wear your cup Really don't read this one till you have seen the movie Spoiler I found the drowning scene just too disturbing, it was just too real and sad
Without question, the best Bond since Connery, but this one is not typical Bond fare. Not nearly as predictable. Dubious' comments are on target. Definitely a thumbs up.
The book? The 1 hour tv version? The spoof starring David Niven, Peter Sellers, and Woody Allen all as James Bond?
cant wait to see it. ive been a huge james bond fan for as long as i can remember. i hated pierce brosnan. i never even saw the last couple bond movies. the guy before him, timothy dalton, gets slagged off alot, but i really liked him and the two movies he did were good. glad the franchise is getting back on track (i.e. - no more pierce)
The movie with David Niven, Peter Sellers, and Woody Allen. HAving Woody Allen as James Bond is just classic. The rest of the cast was top notch as well.
If you liked Timothy Dalton's Bond then you'll like Daniel Craig's. Both portray the character with emotion and humanly qualities. That's what I loved about it. I'm not a huge Bond fan myself, mainly because (especially in the later ones) it had become to forumlaic and over-the-top. Not so with this one. ... That's the point, in my opinion. In this movie he just gets his "00" status so he's arrogant, reckless and basically cold blooded. He hasn't quite evolved into the sophisticated spy yet, and I'm glad. And the opening was pretty dissapointing. That audioslave song was just awful; seemed really flat and noisy; had no style to it. It did run just a little too long; I think if they had cut some dialogue away from the love story it would have been shorter and would not have impacted the movie at all. Spoiler In fact, they definitely should have gotten rid of the beach scene where he tells her he's gonna resign from MI6; seemed really forced. If they had just spent a minute or so there and then cut to the boat where he's typing his resignation, you would have gotten the point much better
how dare you both, the song is not the best(it was done only by Chris Cornell not the whole band) but cmon evryone knows Audioslave is the best band in the world who else can hang with Tom Morello and Chris Cornell
