I know this movie is a ways off and the only other bit of news was that it was going to be the final lead up movie to The Avengers, but I gotta ask what do you think about this bit of news: Link: Marvel Wants A Titanic Star For Captain America Now I would generally toss this off as a bad rumor but more times than not LatinoReview is dead on with the movie spoilers and their sources are usually dead on and trustworthy.
LatinoReview is awesome with breaking news. I could see DiCaprio as Captain America, but he'd better bulk up like a mofo. I could also see Brad Pitt as Thor. Nice.
How about Ben Stiller as Capt America and Jack Black as Thor? Tropic Thunder and the Avengers with their buddy Robert Downey Jr. Anyhoo, Brad Pitt would be a great choice as either Thor or Capt America.
My only concern with both of these guys is that they are both too lean. Captain America is beefy....and as much as Marvel can mess with origins, the body type is key for Captain America- he went from 90 pound weakling to buff super soldier.
TMZ (the one and only time I actually happened to watch more than 5 minutes of it) did a blurb around a month ago about Stan Lee out and about in LA - the paparazzi straight up asked him who he'd like to have as a hero next, to which he said DiCaprio. Though LationReview is the first to put out an article about it.

Brad is capable of bulking up as in Troy but Dicaprio I don't think so. The Cap shouldn't be overly bulky in my opinion. This is a guy that athletic as well so I'd rather him still be fairly lean. If Marvel keeps going after these big stars how will they be able to afford an avengers movie though. That's a lot of star power they are trying to bring together.
It could be a 90 minute movie of the Avengers sitting around playing poker. Salaries would be an issue, along with keeping everybody's schedules clear for Marvel's rather aggressive release dates for these movies.
IMDB has him listed at 6' 1". As far as his body type as of now he would be better suited for the pre Super Serum version of Rogers. He would have to do a good deal of bulking up to pull off the bulked up Cap.
Salaries are already an issue, apparently, as John Favreau might not be back to direct Iron Man 2 because they're too cheap to pay him what he (rightfully) deserves.
I don't think I'd like DiCaprio as Capn America. Pitt I could see, although I think he would be much better served as Thor.
I don't think bulking up will be that much of a problem. He can add some mass/tone by extensive exercise (look at Edward Norton in American History X) plus he'll be wearing a suit that can make him look larger than he is.
I can't see either, they're too. . . . "modern," they're pretty boys. Captain America comes from the 40's, they need a more old fashion man's man to play him. This first movie will apparently be entirely a period piece taking place during WWII.
I've always thought Ryan Hurst would make a good Captain America from We Were Soldiers and Remember the Titans. Not too big a name and definitely not as good as an actor as Leo, but he has the feel of a guy that leads by actions.
