Saw this today and it's really good. The story is pretty straight forward but so what, it still manages to pull you into its world. The characters are handled well and there was decent chemistry between them all. And the songs are awesome, so what if they're covers.

I'm not a big fan of musicals, but I do enjoy those unique ones that come along every once in a while...this one tries to be expressionistic at times while still grounded in reality (which I thought worked well but others may disagree)...and the film also reminded me of Moulin Rouge (which is another favorite of mine).

Definitely worth seeing....especially if you need something to brighten up your day.

Saw it Thursday. VEry standard story indeed. I feel it ran a bit long and some musical numbers could have been cut paticulary since they didn't advance or lend anything to the story. The Bono # comes to mind. Still it was better than alot of crap out there. And the music kicks ass.

I agree it was a bit long, but I enjoyed it for the most part. I felt like some of the storyline was random and forced for the sake of using a certain Beatles song. Overall it was a very interesting movie.

i'm interested in seeing this not because of the Beatles songs, but because of the direction of Julie Taymor...
