I saw an advanced screening of this last week. I gotta say for people who like westerns this will definitely make you happy, especially since they are pretty rare nowadays. It was pretty cool because Peter Fonda and Ben Foster (who plays a badass villain in the movie) were there for a question-and-answer session after the film. Russell Crowe and Christian Bale play the two main characters. I strongly recommend it. Comes out in September I think. Trailer
Well I saw this movie last night. It was awesome. Easily the best Western since Unforgiven, and, imo, better than Unforgiven because there was more action...and, if I'm remembering Unforgiven correctly, which was a great movie, it is probably safe to say there is SIGNIFICANTLY more action/violence in this one. Whatever the case, it's an awesome movie.
I saw this movie this past week.IMO, it was the best movie of the year.Lots of action and great acting...
Anybody seen the original also? Besides about 1000x more violence, is the story any different? Original 1950's ending below: Spoiler In the original the Russell Crowe Character, who is not particularly adversarial and is always sort of sympathetic to the Christian Bale character, helps the Bale character to get him on the train to Yuma to save the Bale character from Crowe’s gang and says something like, "I've broken out of the prison in Yuma before" and it starts raining and the train goes off into the sunset.
Is it anything like that film Brokebuck Mountain? I heard it got pretty good reviews, but I was in Mongolia at the time and wasn't able to see it.
I saw it today. I thought it was a very good movie. I'm man enough to admit I got a little misty eyed at the end, but I didn't let anyone see me.
I wish I could take my dad to see this. I'll buy the DVD for him when this comes out. He absolutely loves Westerns. And John Wayne. And Clint. And whatshisname.
