Yeah, it's a chick flick. The dialogue is pretty cheesy, and Jennifer Garner's acting isn't all that great. But for some reason I still found it entertaining. It's one of those cute movies...think of it as a more modern female version of "Big." I'd say it's a good movie to bring you girl to. Like I said, it's a cute chick flick. I tend to like those types of movies though, so take my review with a grain of salt. I enjoyed it a lot more than Van Helsing, which I just saw last night.
OK, so I finished up work yesterday pretty early. So, I'm having a few brews, doing some other stuff, playing Nintendo...everything's good. RM95's Girl gets home around 8:00 and we decide that we're gonna go see a movie. She tells me to pick, so since I'm such a sweetie, I decide, I'm gonna take her to see this movie and not tell her until the credits roll. We get to Edwards Marquee and make it into the theatre without her seeing what movie we're going to, so I'm having a good time already. She's excited when the credits finally come up, but about half way through, we both sober up and realize we're in the ****tiest movie we've seen in a while. Whoa, what a crapfest that was. I need to put this in that one thread, but what's everyone's appeal to Jennifer Garner?
Haha...I had a feeling I'd be in the minority on this one. Maybe I only liked it because of the crap I'd seen the night before. As for Jennifer Garner, I'm also wondering what the big appeal is. She just doesn't do it for me.
I've never seen Alias or any of her movies, but she sure looks good on the Daredevil poster. Not good enough to see a Ben Affleck movie, of course.
I enjoy that Alias show, and she's good in it even though she's perpetually gloomy, which is something of a bring-down. Garner is something of a two-face. There are times when I see her and think her attractive and times I see her and think she's near-ugly. I guess it all depends on lighting, hairstyle, facial expression, etc. Even though I enjoy Alias, the show is the star and it likely would work just as well with someone else in the lead (though I do think that the supporting cast has some irreplaceable actors. Victor Garber, Ron Rifkin, Kevin Weisman and even Lena Olin when she was on the show, for example).
