because you've just been replaced by Christina Aguilera for most horrendous rendition of The Star Spangled Banner, ever.

That was sickening. Crunk, she was not.

Glad Im not alone RM95. I thought that was one of the worst Ive ever heard.

I wish "artists" would just sing it the way its supposed to be sung instead of doing their own version of it.

    Horrible.

I don't mind artists trying to put their signature on a song.. but her performance was pretty bad. I was going to give Nelly half a thumb down.. but after christina... I thougth nelly did a pretty good job...

I missed the national anthem for a reason.

Beyonce just seriously SUCKED at halftime. Didn't even have a mic to pretend to sing for the first half, then grabbed a mic, pretended to sing PARTS of her songs, but not all of it, and just danced a lot. It's a good thing she's hot, otherwise she would have ZERO career.

Michael McDonald was a badass though.

Preparing to be bashed by the Beyonce fans.....

Did she forget the words or was the repeating on purpose?

To me it sounded like she forgot and then repeated the line to try to make up for it, like it was her version. It was bad. You would think she would practice the song. It just sounded like she was singing it on the fly. It didn't even seem to match the music.

Even though I hate lip singing, maybe the NBA should do what the NFL does and prerecord it.

    a) i didn't pay much attention to halftime, but beyonce can sing, it's not just all about being hot. they go hand in hand.

    b) the mcdonald guy, he's that guy from those commercials. i thought he'd be better. i could barely make out words he was saying, though again i didn't pay that much attention.

    c) it's lip synching, not lip singing (as in synching your lips to the music).

    d) aguilera's version was horrible (i hate when people try to sing the National Anthem differently) but she didn't forget words or lines, she was repeating things just as her own take on the song, which wasn't smart to do.

Don't ever diss THE Doobie Brother again. I liked Marvin Gaye's version of the song better, but I still dig Michael McDonald's hound dog howling at the moon voice. :)

Aguillera sucked. I don't know what the hell she was trying to do - imitate Tarzan or sing.

Beyonce ... mmmm... she was Beyonce. She definitely can sing and she's beautiful to boot.

The NBA halftime show was much better than that crap the NFL threw out there for the Super Bowl. "Hey, let's get some hot artists and have them sing songs that around 10 years old! Oh yeah, and we'll have them sing really suggestive lyrics with phrases like 'topless dancers', 'methadone clinics', 'crackheads', etc. with little 8-12 year olds jumping up and down cheering for them!"

Christina's version was a train wreck and she continues to look like a low-quality stripper. Who exactly is her image consultant?

That Doobie Brother dude needs to leave the music Motown (and Marvin Gaye in particular) alone. Nothing is worse than a dorky, unfunky white guy trying to be soulful, especially when he sings like the long lost father of the guy from Creed.

ain't no river wide enough baby."

michael mcdonald knows what he is doin. he's the ****! i saw the beginning of christina's rendition, but i switched the channel after a couple of seconds. oh, and beyonce did not disappoint. too bad the janet jackson thing happened, because i am sure beyonce would have been a little more scantily clad. oh well.

    1. Andre 3000 ruled.
    2. Big Boi was ok.
    3. Nelly Furtado was AWFUL! her voice was cracking and she was off key through out the song. It was terrible. It was the worse rendition of an anthem I've ever seen done by a professional singer.
    4. Christina Aguillera's version was pretty crappy but at least she has a voice. She's always entirely too showy when she sings though. Also, she looks like she's auditioning for the cast of the movie 'My Vida Loca'. What the hell is that about?
    5. Michael McDonald is ok I guess, but I don't see how he's anything more than a glorified lounge singer. It's better than Michael Bolton but it's still just an old white guy covering music classics because he hasn't the talent to get us to listen to any of the music he's written himself.
    6. Beyonce is beautiful. I don't even care if she is talented or not. I don't care. Does she write her own music? I don't know. I don't care. Was she lip synching? Again, I don't know. I don't care. Damn you, Jay-Z! Damn you!:D

I'm all for singing the National Anthem with emotion and feeling, but I don't think we need to put a beat behind it. If Christina Aguillera would have just sung it without trying to create her own version, it would have been great. She has some serious talent, but has no idea what to do with it.

I thought Michael McDonald was great. I asked my wife what she thought and she said, "I guess its okay for background music". I didn't really understand having him there though. Usually, you see high energy performances at halftime, and he was a little more laid back.

Everyone would have a better, more uplifting time if they would just bring out some kids and let them run up and down the court for six minutes.

Those introductions were nauseating. The NBA shouldn't take themselves so seriously.
