Do you guys think Mourning would still come here with JVG as coach( after that incident in the 99 playoffs). I know Ewing possibly coming here could help. I'd love to get a player like Mourning here (if healthy) to help bring along our young post players and help reach the playoffs. The West is very tough in the paint and some veteran leadership would be unmeasureable.

That comment was uncalled for!! This guy has fought hard to come back, and I wouldn't mind him on our team. That's only if he would be willing to play power forward.

while I like the way he plays, I fear that his playing days are pretty much behind him.

tactless? that's reality. i gauruntee that many people read this thread and thought the exact same thing. i'll never understand the people who want the Rockets to bring in guys like Mourning, McDyess, Camby, Ratliff, Vince Carter, Penny Hardaway, etc etc. when those guys can't be counted on to play half the season. In this particular case, it's being suggested that the Rockets sign a center who hasn't played in two full seasons and who may or may not be able to play this season. And even if he does come back healthy, he's not nearly as effective as Yao and not so much more effective than Cato at this point in his career that it would make sense to sign him when we already have Cato gaurunteed to make big bucks. I mean there are enough people complaining about Cato's contract as is. Imagine if they make him our third string center.

Mourning has bum kidneys. That's reality. I have crohns disease and can't hold a job because I'm sick as much as I'm healthy. That's reality too, and frankly, I'm not offended if any of you suggest the rockets shouldn't sign me.

I said if healthy. Problem free.

The guy is a warrior. He gives 110% when he's on the court, unlike some other players we have, and if healthy would be a major addition. But would he come with JVG coaching?

That kidney joke was classless and embarassing to this board.

I'm really baffled by this. If a guy has a bad back or bum knees and I say "Who wants him? His knees are gone." nobody would say this, but because it's some sort of condition that isn't caused by actually playing sports it's off limits?

Also, they thought he was going to be healthy last season. The fact of the matter is, you'll never be able to count on a healthy Alonzo Mourning ever again.

It's because its mildly life threatening. I can understand why people didn't like what you said, but I don't think there was anything necessarily malicious about it. It was you simply speaking the truth.

Yup. He would be the Rockets 3rd Center, IMO. He's not quick enough anymore to play PFs like Nowizitski, Duncan, Webber, R.Wallace, and isn't all that much different from Cato at this point in his career.

Well maybe some people would think I should be particularly sensitive to life threatening conditions because I actually suffer from one, but it's actually the opposite. I accept it and the limitations it causes and I live with it. I crack jokes about it. It's all you can do. And yeah, I didn't mean to be malicious, just honest. It actually wasn't intended as a 'joke' as some people described it.

I took no exception to what you said. I understood what you meant. Hang in there! My father has a life threatening illness and that's what I tell him every day.

I agree, I didn't see anything wrong with it; it's the truth.

I suspect Zo to Houston could be a possibility. Dallas is supposed to be targeting him.

I would love to have a 25 minute a night Zo backing up Yao, playing some 4, teaching Yao and EG.

If it could happen and if he were medically cleared, then Zo -- come to Houston. JVG has got your leg!

What about sign and trade Taylor for zo at 2yrs 8mill with a option yr. He can start and play 30mins a night while Eddie plays 18 there and then when mourning comes back in he slides to center and Eddie picks up another 13mins. Thats 35 for yao,30 for Mourning and 31 for Eddie. Cato would be the odd man out, but so what. Once Mournings contract is up, he'll be 35 and ready to back up Ming and Eddie. Anything to get rid of Taylors contract.
