His kidneys have gone even further south and Zo is likely out for the year yet again. http://msn.espn.go.com/nba/news/2002/0912/1431050.html
Cap room?! A man's health has took a turn south and you're worried about cap room?!! I know we have love for the Rox only, but damn.
It's unfortunate that this is how Mourning has turned out due to his bad kidneys. He is a class guy who represents what the NBA should be. I hope it's not anything serious or life-threatening.
zo is unfortunate, feel great regret for him. I hope he does smartly for himself and make his health #1. Play again? Not important.
Shame that this had to happen. Especially after making that comeback last season. He seems like a good guy...truly sad.
It's very sad to see anyone getting ill, especially with such a serious condition. His health is the most important thing. He might need a kidney transplant. He has matured a lot on the court and is still a great competitor. He has also helped a lot of people in the community. I hope his health improves and I wish he can come back to play but he may have to retire because of his illness.
During the Rox finals against the Knicks, Zo and John Thompson sat in the seats immediately behind me. We talked some during the breaks. He was quiet but friendly, and courteous to the fans, even though he was rooting for Patrick and the Knicks. He has always been a warrior on the court and I wish him the best.
Damn that sucks. I was always rooting for him to come back to form. He was one of my fav players to watch because he always gave it his all and his d was awesome. Well, it looks like Riley will get another lotto pick to pair with Butler this year. He should try to get rid of Jones and Grant and just start over.
CriscoKidd, Do you think Riley has the patience for a rebuild process or would he rather turn that duty over to another person? What is the <i>market</i> for Grant & Jones?
I always like Zo. But let's not hope that the Heat get the medical exception, then spend it on a player, only for Mourning to return later in the season. I think Miami did that a year ago or so, very unfair. But I hope Zo returns back to his old All-Star form. He was great to watch.
This reminds me of how much a team can be devastated when a key player is taken out of the game for non game reasons. Like Reggie Lewis and Drazen Petrovic not to mention others.....
Dayum, dont knock yourself out either now Stevie. 70 CHARACTER post? Seriously now, why would Duncan even think about going to Miami? I used to think Pat Riley was good, but the guy hasn't done crap since the 80's! Jones is a little overrated. He does have that tag of dissappreaing in the playoffs. Butler will only be in his second year. Unfortunately Miami has nothing significant to offer that would make God (Duncan in the eyes of Spers fans) leave that dump of a city called San Antonio.
I'm no doctor, but glomerulonephrosis is pretty bad news. Hopefully, he doesn't get ESRD and need a transplant...
I think he'd rather jump ship to another team with more talent. Will he? Dunno, seems pretty loyal to Miami. I don't think there are a lot of teams banging down the doors to get Jones + Grant, but at the very least they should be able to get rid of one of those ugly contracts. If Baker can be moved anyone can I guess.
Seattle would not be a bad place for Grant and Jones. Riley can just ask for Payton whose contract expires next year. Take away Zo, Jones and Grant and the Heat have tons of cap space. That would be a start I guess. Seattle would then have Grant, Rashard (who I dont believe is going anywhere else), Jones, and Kenny Anderson. Brent Barry and Desmond Mason would be good role players or tradeable. Of course I hope none of this happens as we are trying to take Seattles spot in the playoffs.
