"Mother" and "Father" are now "Parent 1" and "Parent 2" in US passport applications

It may be more than gender neutral. Some parents remarry and the concept of father and mother may not be useful information on a child's passport.

Honestly, so what? "Mother" versus "Parent 1" doesn't change the relationship you have with your child and is more universal. Who cares? What will it take for people to realize that the "Ozzie and Harriet" ideal of family living is dead and gone, if it ever truly existed to begin with?

 

This is a real slippery slope issue. First they call mother and father parent 1 and parent 2. It's only a matter of time before they are called parent A and Parent B.

And we all know how awful that would be.

This is clearly an attempt by the secular humanists to remove the Lord Jesus Christ from his rightful place as the leader of this country.

 

That's cool. Maybe they should add a space where you can specify which one is the mother and which one is the father, or if both are your fathers or mothers (or step parents). Sometimes you can't tell just by name what gender they are. I'm also not sure if there would be a circumstance where they would need that information. Maybe for medical reasons. Maybe as a consensus of some sort.
