Who is the best player in the NBA nobody ever hears about? Who never gets any due for what they bring to the game every night? Some players come to my mind, but I want to see who you all say first... ------------------
These players spring to mind.. Jerome Williams Charlie Ward Nick Van Exel Jerry Stackhouse Sam Cassell People always say that Eddie Jones is underrated, but that's a crock. He's been picked for a ton of allstar games, and he's won his share of 'player of the month' awards. ------------------ My dream job is to be a Houston Rockets towel-boy.
Theo Ratliff ------------------ In order to be a success in life, you need 2 things: 1. Don't tell everything you know.
I think Abdur-Rahim is the most underated basketball player. He finally got some recognition by being selected to play on the Dream Team. ------------------ www.rocketzone.web.com is no more.
Hakeem Olajuwon. ------------------ Sometimes I think I'd be better off dead. No, wait, not me...you.
Shareef Abdur-Rahim ------------------ Francis out top, 9 seconds on the clock, he gives a no look pass to Cuttino Mobley, 4 seconds left, Mobley passes to an open Langhi in the corner with 1 second left! Langhi at the buzzer.......YES!!! How Sweet It Is!!
These are guys that probably get their dues, but not enough or not like they should : Shareef Abdur-Rahim Theo Ratliff Michael Finley Darrell Armstrong Bryon Russell Ray Allen Sam Cassell Paul Pierce (maybe) ------------------ I got nothin'. Ray Allen and Sam Cassell ------------------ Fun Police Says: 1. Stupid threads & Stupid BBS names are not FUN! 2. Spelling, grammar, punctuation and sentence structure are not FUN! 3. Conduct yourself in a FUN way! The Fun Police are Watching. Vote for the Rockets & Have FUN! REDSKINS SUCK!!!!!!!!
Vince Carter, Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O'Neal, and Michael Jordan ------------------ The Serious Police are watching. Follow the rules or be assimilated. Shandon is underrated. [This message has been edited by NIKEstrad (edited September 24, 2000).]
Shandon Anderson. (He does get his dues here, but around the league he gets about 1/10 of the respect he deserves) ------------------ Looking for next year's Dan Langhi? Draftsource.net ClutchTown.com 4th Friday of August= Rocket Day 1999-Steve Francis 2000-Maurice Taylor
Ray Allen, this guy could jump into the top 10 players in the league this year. I think he is gonna explode. Shareef and Finley are underrated as is Stephon Marbury, as I never hear about him anymore. I think Webber is also underrated as he wasn't selected to the Dream team. ------------------ "See they pick and pick and pick. Man they picked me to death." -Steve Francis on the Utah Jazz
I totally agree about Ray Allen. I was really surprised at how good he looked in the All Star game. I guess you're bound to be underrated if you play in a market like Milwaukee. Here's another Philly player who you hear even less about than Ratliff (in fact, I never hear about except in a Philly game): Tyronne Hill. This guy's a monster rebounder and defender at the 4 with a solid jump shot. He does everything a Brian Grant or a PJ Brown does, but doesn't get anywhere near that kind of respect....at least not in the last few years that I've been following the NBA so closely. Here are a couple of other guys I thought of in addition to all the other good picks made: Terrell Brandon Anthony Mason Kurt Thomas Ron Mercer Clifford Robinson Chris Gatling Clarence Weatherspoon Greg Ostertag (he might not be great, but he's not as bad as everybody always says he is) Cat, Just how much respect does Shandon deserve? I think he's a quality NBA player and haven't really heard anybody doubt that. I don't really expect anybody from other cities or in the media to laud him with praise. There are a lot of other players who can do the same things, and they're treated about the same. Dr., Bryon Russell? Could you explain? People around the internet say things such as Shandon was a complete bust for the Rockets. They say he underacheived, and that he's not even in the top 20 or 30 shooting guards. Why? They look at the stats. They have no idea the kind of defense, hustle, etc. that he puts in. Read a few message boards about NBA SGs. Shandon is so unbelievably underrated it's unreal. ------------------ Looking for next year's Dan Langhi? Cat, Yeah, I don't read many message boards other than this one. I think Shandon's working out real well for the Rockets. It might have looked a little shaky in the beginning, but to say that kind of stuff after the end of the season is totally underrating him. Good call ------------------
George Lynch and Doug Christie..... Did someone say Charlie Ward is UNDERRATED? He is overrated if you ask me....and happens to be the worst starting PG in the league. He has FINALLY improved in the past year or two, but he is not underrated...nor is his twin Chris Childs. ------------------ There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."
Did someone say Charlie Ward is UNDERRATED? He is overrated if you ask me....and happens to be the worst starting PG in the league. He has FINALLY improved in the past year or two, but he is not underrated...nor is his twin Chris Childs. Charlie Ward won me over in the playoffs. The guy is clutch. I see him as a Claude Lemieux type of player. He's a pretty good PG throughout the regular season, but when the playoffs roll around, he raises his game and becomes the third (arguably second) most important Knick on the team. He is definitely someone you want on the playoff roster. For this one reason alone he is underrated. ------------------ My dream job is to be a Houston Rockets towel-boy.
You guys are all gonna be in big trouble when CBFanClub reads this thread........ ------------------ RocketFuel is dead!
