i would have to say its Ong Bak (amazing stunts, no wires) District B13 (amazing sunts also, no wires, alot of leaping and great couple of fights scenes) Con Air (one of my favorites of all time) what do u guys think?
Did anyone ever see Equilibrium with Christian Bale. It flew under the radar but was freakin sweet. It was kind of like a combo of the Matrix and V for Vendetta. Check it out if you get a chance.
Ong Bak was awesome but took too long to get to the action; the beginning was very slow. District B13 was great too. But I was hoping for one more big fight at the end with both the heroes going up against a whole army of guys. I guess Con Air could be considered underrated but it did pretty well in the theaters didn't it? Perhaps underrated in the wake of The Rock. Equilibrium was frickin sweet as well. Gun Kata; enough said. I would say Appleseed and Time and Tide but like Ong Bak, those were hits overseas that just never got enough attention here. I think Equilibrium is a great example because it had a short theater run to find cult hit status on dvd. I'll add the Island; That turned out to be a pretty good movie actually. And I know it's not really an action movie...but I wanna throw Kingdom of Heaven out there. That probably has to be one of the most underrated movies EVER. The studio butchered it. If you haven't seen the extended director's cut then you're missing out.
Independence Day. I don't know if that's considered underrated since it made a crapload of money, but it's reputation doesn't seem that great. I remember it was a dud with the critics and it's imdb rating isn't so hot either. But it's one of my favorites. Bill Pullman's speech at the end about it being the world's independence day gets me every time.
Con Air was a man's dream of how many different ways a bad guy can die. It also had Dave Chapelle in it. Is Waterworld a guilty pleasure?
