Who do you see on Screen and just think . . THIS IS GREAT ACTING??? Keanu Reeves comes to mind and to an extent Tom Cruise Rocket River
tom cruise may be a nut, but that fool can act. and most of his movies don't suck. his screen presense is top notch. oh, and you can't be overrated if the consensus is that you already suck...as in keanu's case.
I don't think Keanu Reeves has ever had a reputation for being able to act, so I don't know if you can count him. But, I don't know if I can add much to the thread. I don't really notice acting in movies unless it is really bad. Stage acting is a bit different.
Mary Lynn Rajskub (The chick from 24) The best she can do is talk like a robot, every time I see her try to act I think to myself WOW, I should have become and actor..
If anything, I'd consider Keanu to be an UNDERrated actor. It's almost cliche to hate on Keanu these days. I haven't seen much of his work, but what I have seen, I enjoyed. Bill and Ted - awesome Speed - classic Constantine - great movie The Matrix - come on, can you imagine anybody else as Neo? He was also great in Something's Gotta Give Also, Tom Cruise? Seriously? I know acting is subjective, but he's easily one of the top five actors of the past two decades. I've seen 20 of his movies, and have enjoyed every single one of them. Besides being the most bankable actor in recent history, he should have won an oscar by now. Personally, I wouldn't "overrate" any actor or actress, because there are always people that will not like certain ones. Plus, there are so many different types of actors, that it's really hard to compare them.
thumbs down for you.. DiCaprio can act.. I thought he was overrated until I saw The Departed. And in my opinion I think Pitt is wayyyy underrated! He's got skill just never utilizes it because of the movies he casted for, like Mr. and Mrs. Smith. That was probably the biggest pile of **** ever created, even Pitt couldn't save it. Julia Roberts, George Clooney and Paul Giamatti are all overrated.
agree. he is watchable on screen, but he isnt that great of an actor. Most of his roles are the same person pretty much. He's been good but not a great actor.
I disagree completely. There's a fine line between acting and overacting, and Leonardo DiCaprio blows by it like he has a lap to go.
i tell you who's a great actor but always seems under the radar: Johnny Depp. he takes on all kinds of roles and excels.
Matt Damon and Di Caprio- Overrated? No way...These guys are very very good actors. DiCaprio was amazing in "The Aviator", "Gangs of NY", "The Departed" and "Blood Diamonds". Matt Damon was great in "The Departed", "The Good Sheperd" and "Talented Mr Ripley". When I think overrated actor, Keanu Reeves, Kevin Costner, Ben Afleck, Nicolas Cage, Andy Garcia (fake ass al pacino wannabe).
I'll give you Matt Damon (not that I agree with you, just that he is at least considered good) but Ben and Bruce? Like JuanValdez said to be overrated you have to be considered at least mediocre, right? Who in the hell actually thinks Bruce or Ben is even mediocre? That's like me jumping in and saying Carrot Top or Pauly Shore or something. My choices would be Denzel Washington (plays the same role in almost every movie), Sandra Bullock (this may fall into my own "who thinks she is good?" catagory but I have a friend who insists she can act), and George Clooney (I actually like him on screen but he is not a good actor).
I think I might be alone on this one, but Jack Nicholson is overrated. Also Adam Sandler comes to mind.
I thought I was the only one who thinks Tom Cruise is actually a good actor. If you don't believe me, go back and watch Born on the Fourth of July. I've never understood the love for Christopher Walken. He's like watching a robot act.
