Report has it that Wolf's Creek was so offensive that critics actually walked out of the movie. What was so wrong with it? In the spirit of that movie, I was wondering if people could post their list of most offensive movies of all time (with spoilers hidden in white text) and why it is so offensive. Ken Park: I don't remember clearly what was so wrong with this movie. But apparently it is so bad that US DVd distributors refused to distribute this movie. Spoiler: I think it has a statutory rape scene, but with a older woman and a younger man, and the older woman was hot. Bully spoiler: Two rape scenes and a scene with a guy watching gay p*rn. Brown Bunny spoiler: Chloë Sevigny gives the leading man a BJ on screen
I've seen it... Spoiler: 1) Sex scenes in the movie show erect penises. 2) Guy masturbates, climaxes and you see it all. 3) Disturbing Suicide scene.
I don't think there are really any spoilers in this post. Salò o le 120 giornate di Sodoma (Salò or the Hundred and Twenty Days of Sodom) (1975) by Pier Paolo Pasolini. Disgusting movie, and if you want to talk offensive - note that Pasolini was assassinated by being run over in his own car, multiple times, the same year the movie was released. (Link to news story about case being reopened.) It's intended to be a critique of impending fascism and of consumerism. Includes lots of sodomy, some coprophagia, and an incredibly violent climax. It's a difficult movie to watch. Also: Irréversible (2002) by Gaspar Noé. I saw it at the River Oaks landmark a few years back - there was a sign in the box office window saying "Viewers of Irreversible - We apologize, but no refunds will be issued after the first 30 minutes of the movie." There were probably 35 people in the theater at the beginning of the film. By the end credits, there were 2. Both of these movies are incredibly disturbing. It's hard to say if they are even good movies. To paraphrase a quote I saw somewhere, responding to someone saying that Irreversible was the "best movie of 2002"; If you eat a calzone filled with human flesh and cheese, it sure as hell won't be the best meal you've ever eaten, but you'll never forget it.
I have a movie on DVD called "Baise Moi". It is a french film starring two famous french p*rn actresses. It was banned in several countries because of it's graphic rape and murder scenes. It's story is like "Thelma and Louise" but on crack. http://observer.guardian.co.uk/life/story/0,6903,683906,00.html
Not quite on topic, but...... The most offensive show on television is "My Super Sweet Sixteen" on MTV. Super rich people show off how much money they can spend on their daughter's 16th birthday party. It's disgusting. One girl cried and pouted for a week because she wasn't getting a car...then the dad surprises her with a Range Rover. These people spend $500,000 or more on these parties. One was $2 million. On a 16 year old's party.
I never heard of that movie until someone here at the BBS talked about it… When I watched Salo I didn’t think it was that crazy, but when a huge party dines on turds I was really grossed out..
Birth of a Nation (1915). It's actually a great an innovative movie from a technical and artistic standpoint because it was the first full length american film to actually be shot like a movie is today, with different angles and what not as opposed to just filming things as if they were a stage play, but the story is about the KKK rising up and defeating the "evil" carpetbaggers and blacks who have ruined the glorious South.
I think I downloaded that once. Don't they kill a guy by shoving a gun up his ******* and shooting him?
yep, and everyone of those girls think they "deserved" such a party or gift. tell me, in your 16 years of existence, what have you contributed to the world besides your overbearing use of the word "like" and your constant degrading of others who aren't as rich as your parents? i think "offensive" movies are categorized as so not b/c they actually offend, but moreso b/c people don't like to face the truth when it comes to real life. and the truth is that these type of things in these movies do exist.
You know what's really sick? That you guys actually know the contents of those shows, meaning you guys actually sat down and watched it For me it's such a guilty pleasure, every time you watch a show like sweet 16 or Laguna Beach, you feel sick and dirty and afterwards, but you still end up catching the show next week.
For me the winner is "Ilsa: Shewolf of the SS". For disturbing, I'd have to go with "Happiness" or "Very Bad Things".
I caught my daughter (11 yr's old) watching it, so I sat down with her to explain to her how degrading it is to flaunt your good fortunes in the face of others. I used the show to teach her a few of life's lessons in regards to your attitude towards others.
I saw it and I have to agree it was pretty disturbing. There are a lot of French Films that are pretty unsettling like Irreversible already mentioned. Another one is Romance As far as offensive / disturbing movies I would have to put Happiness up there. Spoiler Its not just that it deals with masturbation, murder and pedophilia but that it does it in a bland matter of fact manner.
good job pops! i think reality t.v. might be useful in this way. hold it up as an example of someone to look down on and not try to emulate. [skank]paris hilton[/skank]
