    Trae vs. Mike Jones

you can read about it here

I think they both suck and neither one of them represent houston's rap well, IMO.I can't think of another beef that people care this little about (accept for that one time James and this mexican kid were battling in the 3rd grade). Its more funny than anything. Trae knocks out Mike Jones at the Ozone awards because he calls himself the President/Mayor of Houston.

Somewhere Bush and Bill White are preparing their diss records.

...also the George R. Brown Convention Center has to be the worst place to have an award show.

    Mike Jones is terrible.

I don't know how you can talk bad about Trae except for his new solo album. He just put out another ABN with Z-Ro that is good too. S.L.A.B. and ABN are two of the best Houston groups ever. Not to mention that Guerilla Maab.

Rap beefs are stupid in general, but to say Trae sucks is not right.

These battles happen all over Houston. Cham vs. Paul Wall, Slim thug vs. Z-Ro, Mike Jones vs. Cham, Lil Flip vs. TI.

Trae is probably one of the best in Houston right now. His latest ABN album with Z-Ro was very good. Mike Jones is just flat out horrible. Anyways, this is not a good luck for Houston. Pimp C basically brought everyone together with his "Knocking doors down" song. That song settled most of the beefs in Houston. Calling himself the President of Houston wasn't the only thing that got Mike knocked out. Hes been known for a big mouth and talking way too much.

Heres a vid of the aftermath:

    Trae speaks on the incident:

Realest rap beef was State Property vs. Major Figgas.

A few deaths and a beatdown at NBA all-star weekend came out of that beef.

    rap in general is irrelevant.

I just wish rap was back in the good ol' days when Vanilla Ice was spittin' hot fire and Easy-E was still HIV free.

Trae actually has skill and his voice is unique. Mike Jones sounds like hes trying to squeeze out a turd while he raps. A-La-Master P with his "UUGGGHHHH".

Why don't equally talented rappers beef anymore?

Trae is garbage, but not as bad as Mike Jones. The only thing going for Trae is his gangsta voice, he has little lyracism. People just bump his music just cuz it sounds so hardcore, they really dont listen to him.

The only badass thing that Mike Jones has going for him is that he looks like a ninja turtle, my favorite one too.

...at recognizing he needed a publicity stunt to sell some records.

I actually feel bad for Trae in this instance. All that talk about not selling out and staying real and then you go and do this? Fame will get to people's heads in such a pathetic way. Trae isn't starving and in Houston he is recognized, but I sensed he hated to see other artists get shine instead of him... There are other ways to get fame, not by publicity stunts.

For some reason I thought about Joey Jihad. That's probaly what Trae was shooting for...

    Sad day for Houston rap.

I'm sure he just said what all Houston rappers are thinking. Mike Jones is a slimy dewsh.

That's how i feel. He's riding his cousin's fame. Z-ro is so far ahead of him that i can't stand those ABN tracks. In Houston, Cham and Z-ro are the only young rappers i can really listen to for long. I think nationally h-town fell off because for a while people thought Mike Jones and Paul Wall represented us, which they don't (i guess that's what Trae was mad about). I don't think there was ever a song that either of them did that didn't talk about sippin' drank, candy paint, or 84's.

I am losing my patience with rap, though. I am mostly picky about beats and flow but the lack of substance is really ridiculous. I don't really care to hear political views but i would like to hear something, not a bunch of drug lord lies from a CO or killer lies from someone who's never done it. Who came up with all this fantasy crap, anyway. Real gangsta rappers used to be able to make songs about anything. :sigh: :( ...i guess there won't be another Pac.

I wouldn't say Trae's voice is unique... On all his albums his voice is synthesized and layered so it sounds deeper. To me, he sounds like a rip-off of Z-Ro, who is truly the best rapper from Houston. Don't get me wrong I like Trae but his style is based off of Z-Ro's and Ro does it so much better.

Z-RO I think could be the best rapper alive right now.

Trae does do the layering on his new stuff. The older Trae was very good.
