Who's your pick for funniest guy on the planet?

If you could pick just one person to unite the world through laughter, who would it be?

    some candidates...

    Chris Rock
    Conan O'Brien
    Jim Carrey
    Robin Williams
    etc.

Please don't pick anyone who has passed away. Only current comedians.

It's always changing for me but off the top of my head, I'd say Louis C.K.

Williams gets a lot of grief, but I think he's the only one with broad enough comedic skills to appeal to older, children-aged and more conservative audiences. In that context, you could probably also throw in Mr. Seinfeld.

Insanely talented and without any blue material whatsoever. Pop Tart instructions, flunking an eye test ("I didn't take it serious!!"), ordering a "pie" for the first time in college. And I love that he's always got that half grin when he's in the middle of telling a joke. But possibly a little too sarcastic or laid back for broad, global appeal; like a Jim Gaffigan.

He wrote two near-perfect sitcoms, one of which is probably top-five all-time, but I think as far as British standup comedians go Eddie Izzard is the best of the bunch.

    hard to pick one.

Gaffigan and Regan are definitely 2 of the best standup comics out there. (anyone see Gaffigan at Verizon? his clothing choice was a bit odd)

I would say that Ricky Gervais may be the hottest right now. The guy is insane. I'm looking forward to his new show

He's probably not the flavor-of-the-month right now, but if you start to think about Jim Carrey in various movies- Ace Ventura, The Cable Guy, Irene, Bruce, Dumber, etc., Liar Liar- I mean, you gotta give the guy props. His physical humor is just off the charts. I'm in my 40s and I still laugh hysterically when he does the talking-out-of-his-butt routine. Yes, my vote's definitely for Carrey.
