For me this has to be the most excited I've been about the Rocket's and their Championship (dare I say) potiental since I've been a member here. Last year with the addition of T-Mac was pretty exciting but we all knew that a lot had to happen before this team could seriously contend. Even though all the dust has yet to settle, are you more excited about the upcoming season that seasons past?

Every new season is always most anticipated for me. Remember we used to have high hopes to win a ring with Francis, Mobely,Rice, Griffin and Cato.

I love my Rox but believe we need three more pieces, upgrades at the 1 and b/u 4 as well as big upgrades at the 2.

Don't you think we still have a chance to get those during this offseason?

If we could swing some sort of sign and trade for Jaric (e.g., Mike James and Ward for him), sign up Jay Williams for cheap and pick up Finley...that would be my dream offseason, but that is not realistic at all, if only because after we get one of those guys, the other guys would be hesitant to sign because of playing time...but I really think we could get one of those three still. Maybe Allan Houston as a backup plan.

    PG: Jaric, Jay Williams, Head
    SG: Finley, Sura, Wesley
    SF: T-Mac, Barry, Bowen
    PF: Swift, Howard
    C: Ming, Mutombo

Weatherspoon, Moochie and Baker either get cut or put on the IR until we can maybe trade their expiring contracts for value...

    ;) :D

I'm going to say this year because the team has really grown on me and i'm starting to approach the feeling for them I had for the mid 90s team.

The addition of Swift just seems right ~ he's going to bring some serious excitment.

Now we just need that final piece...

96-97 : we added Charles Barkley and Kevin Willis in the offseason and picked up Eddie Johnson midseason. That was the last year that Olajuwon was a superstar

Time Out! I am not a pessimist by any stretch. I am just not overly anticipatory AT THIS TIME. Rox should be in p/o. Rox may contend for home court. I will go ga ga when I believe that they will be!

I think this thread was brought up because this offseason has been dragging and we are REALLY HUNGRY for the new season!

Nothing will ever match the anticipation of getting T-Mac last year. I'll bet there will never be a more lopsided trade ever made in the NBA again. This offseason has been tantalizing, but last year blows it away by a mile.

Just from curiosity. Do you guys know any other lopsided trades from NBA lore?

Mchale and Parish for Joe Barry Carroll is the first one that comes to mind. That was a pretty epic steal.

BTW, here's hoping that in 10 years the frontline of Mcgrady/Swift/Yao is held in as high esteem as that one.

I feel the exact same way. I look forward to every season even more than the last.

In fairness to the Warriors it was Parish and the #3 pick (turned out to be McHale) for JBC and some mid-round pick that turned out to be nobody.

Dr. J was bought from the Nets for $3 million. That's pretty sad. lol.
Moses Malone and Scottie Pippen were involved in some loopy trades, too.

And to answer the thread's topic : There's really no season I anticipate more than any other season - I anticipate watching the Rockets play every season.

Well, this is the most excited I've been before a Rocket season since '95/96. I really thought we would 3-peat that year. Damn sonics...

As far as this year goes, I still think we're another year away. I'm thinking we make the WCF this year but go down to the spurs. Now, the year after that? That's when things will happen.

But, yeah, I can't WAIT for this season to start. Great things are going to happen even if we don't win it all.
