You didn't just take out my heart... you stomped on it and chopped it in pieces, then spit it on my face... oh, to be a HOMER... please let me know there's a bigger HOMER than ME. :(

Nice thread idea and good options.

The Orlando matchup is the juiciest. Not only do you have Rox vs. 3/5ths of our old starting lineup, you also have T-Mac vs. his old team.

Normally, when a star player leaves his team, it's as a Free Agent. It's rare that two star players are swapped for each other. In this case, though, you have two compelling storylines: Francis trying to show the world that he should have been the Franchise and T-Mac showing his old team that he can be a winner. The reception of both the Orlando crowd and the Houston crowd should be fascinating.

Not looking forward to the Orlando games. It seems like a lose-lose situation to me. Same with the Laker games.

Nice thread/poll. I almost picked the Orlando Rox matchup but I think the real test is to see what Yao is going to do against Shaq. If he plays like we know he can and continues to get his confindence up it should lead to bigger and better things for our team. Aren't they supposed to play in a pre season opener? If he does well that could very well set the tone this year for us.

    1. Rockets v. Orlando (for the aforementioned reasons)

    2. Houston v. LA (see if Yao can dominate Divac and if the Rockets can win 3 of the 4 games)

    3. Houston v. Miami (Yao v. Shaq is always good)

    Rockets Vs Lakers.

    For two reasons:

    1) I hate them. Yes. Rudy T. is the enemy now and if you are consistant, you hate the WHOLE organization not just who you think should be hated. Rudy T.? Nice fella. Thanks for the memories. But you crossed over. And headed to the evil empire of basketball. So...I hate you. I am consistant. Once you quit. I love you.

    2) T-Mac vs Kobe. Settle it once and for all. Whos the best 2 guard on the planet?

I have to go with Almu on this one.

I HATE the Lakers. Why oh why did they have to sign Rudy T? (Granted, I'd take the job too, the most glamourous in the NBA, but that's what I hate about the Lakers: favoritism, glamour, BS.)

I also think Rockets vs Heat should kick A, what with the Yao/Shaq thang, and Tracy's friendship with Shaq. And the Van Gumby brothers. And, hate to admit it, and no, I'm not, uh, heterosexually challenged (not that there's anything wrong with that), but Shaq looks kinda cool in the Heat uniform. Of course, that might just be a novelty. T-Mac looks far cooler in his Rockets uni.

The real question: Is the Christmas marquee game Rockets vs Orlando, or Rockets vs Heat?

I don't get the overwhelming vote for the Rockets vs Magic match-up. What is there to see? Most agreed that we are a much better team than them and that it was a lop-sided trade (advantage Houston), so where is the competition and the suspense?

95% of the posters (the out-spoken ones) agreed that it was a good trade for us, so what is there to prove? To prove that the mere 5% of the people who didn't want Francis traded were wrong? Sorry, but that is lame. The 2 games that we play Orlando is not going to prove that it was a good trade or a bad trade. Revisit the trade in 5 years, then we can make a better assessment.

The games we should be looking forward to are the Lakers & Heat games because those are the games that we can use to gauge our stars' advancement in their respective positions.

it maybe be lopsided in terms of helping us win championships because big time stars like tmac are what it takes, but in terms of just overall talent for this year, we gave up more than orlando did. our advantage is that we have two big stars and time to find role players to make us better. orlando's advantage is that they got more talent than they had last year, it's just not as concentrated in one guy (which is what you need for titles for the most part).

for whoever mentioned the Christmas primetime, if it's not LA vs miami, shaq and kobe going against each other for the first time, i'll be absolutely shocked.

It has to be Heat vs. LA. No doubt about it. We might get second billing with Orlando vs. Houston
