Moses was a great center, but IMO, there is absolutely no debate like there is Hakeem v. Shaq. Shaq hands down.
Pulling on some strong heart strings here. He was my intro to the Rockets. Anyway, ... Dang, have to get back to you on this one. Need to do some research. Good question though.
Are you trying to say that there is a Shaq is close enough to Hakeem to warrant debate? That argument has been utterly destroyed in the other thread. I might only think Moses is better because I'm a homer, but there is a debate here.
Admittedly, I'm not old enough to have seen Malone play, but Shaq was putting up big numbers when he was a kid in the golden age of centers. There's definitely room for debate here though, just for the fact that Moses begat The Dream and Sir Charles.
I am not a Shaq fan. I don't like the guy. He has no work ethic. That said, I give the nod to Moses. http://www.hrwiki.org/index.php/Moses_Malone http://www.homestarrunner.com/sbemail137.swf Seriously. How could you watch that and not?
didn't really remember the Moses day as a Rocket. At least i'll admit that instead of saying something r****ded like Tmac is better than Wilt etc. I know he taught Dream to be an inside presence and great rebounder.
shameless cuz i uploaded it post <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/f0zSdN5ceXU&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/f0zSdN5ceXU&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object> difference between Shaq and Moses
Moses was a great player, we all know that. That being said, Shaq was one of the most (if not THE most) dominant and powerful man in basketball for probably a decade. He has won games everywhere he went, and for any troubles he's had with teammates he's always had so many people around him who had nothing but fantastic things to say about him. I'd take Shaq any day.
Silly question. Moses was GOOD, but he is not in the same sentence with shaq. No one has ever dominated the paint like Shaq before, not even wilt. Its not even close. Shaq by a mile.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Russell? Wilt? Abdul-Jabbar? Dream? For what it's worth, Moses Malone and Shaq, along with Robinson, Ewing and maybe Mikan are in the discussion of top 10... but Shaq is def not top 3. Sorry.
Ok, I shouldn't have used the word probably. Just talking about opinions here. But if I was drafting a list of greatest centers ever, he'd be in my top three. 7 of 20 ESPN "experts" concurred: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/dailydime?page=dailydime-GreatestCenters
According to that list, David Thorpe ranked him 2nd best, all time. I don't consider him a biased "East Coast" guy. And none of the 20 who voted had Moses ranked ahead of Shaq.
