Mos is probably one of the more articulate musicians out there, just because he happens to believe in all these silly conspiracies does not make him an idiot. A conspiracy nut, may be, but not an idiot.

How does someone like that even get invited to a panel discussion? If I were the other panelists, I would never accept the invite if I was put next to someone that incredibly dumb. The guy can't even form a complete sentence!

can someone recap, can't see at work. I assume this is from Real Time, he was on this friday, but I don't get HBO anymore

nevermind: my company's firewall went down right after I posted this.

I've never understood why people post what celebrities have to say. so what, mos def was being an idiot. what's to discuss.

I just watched the whole episode, no wonder they cut that part out of the show.

    My god.

He did decently the rest of the time, but otherwise he was a waste of space on that panel.

most celebrities don't do well on Real Time, I watched the show religiously up until this past season with no HBO. I like the concept, its provides entertainment on a political talk show. I was honestly shocked whenever any celebrity was very well informed. Some are smarter than others, obvioulsy George Carlin was very well informed if you listen to his standup that's not surprising. D L Hughley also stood out I thought.

I don't know what point Mos is trying to get to in the clip, everyone knows why Al Qaida exists. But as much as everyone talks about rappers rapping about nothing, Mos Def is definitely socially aware and able to put together complete sentences.

or a representative calling for armed revolution! except he's not because he's a celebrity with wacky opinions, not an actual member of congress.

why are republicans so infatuated with celebrities who have different opinions than they do?

Oh, how funny! Prison sentences! Is that because he's a rapper or just because he's black?

I don't think he's ever been to jail.

He was arrested once for a public demonstration, and also issued a warrant for a fight with a photographer where charges were dropped later (I think).

So what do prison sentences have to do with this?

Celebrity-seeking stunts and the support of celebrities is how Obama got elected. In today's superficial society, where celebrity endorsements have replaced thinking and logic, publicity matters and fame matters.
