Interesting stuff... "I was frustrated with what he said to me," Taylor said. "I asked, `How can you call a travel if I step on a leg and stumble? That's his foul for sticking out his leg.' He told me to shut the ... up and just shut my smart ... mouth. I told him, `Don't cuss at me. I'm not a child.' That's when I got the technical." I probably would've gotten a technical then too! ------------------ "You know what they say about the music business. Here today, gone TODAY! - Chris Rock at the MTV Music Video Awards
Jeff, It was a rough night w/the refs. In my opinion the last call when they blew the whistle after Finley already missed the shot gave the Mavs the game. The momentum was swinging our way and I feel that we were in good shape to pull this one out. It is sad, but hopefully we will recover and still make the playoffs. ------------------ Walt Williams is the worst player I have ever seen start an NBA game
That is interesting. Very interesting. Mo wouldn't lie...I don't think. But do NBA officials really say stuff like that? I would have done things much worse than that if a zebra told me to shut my smart *** mouth, not just say, "Don't cuss at me. I'm not a child." Geez, a T for that? Why didn't freakishly funny-lookin Nash or even Howard get one for arguing? If all that Mo said is true, then all the Techs tonight were ridiculous. ------------------ Watch Cat's Corner every Sunday night on Fox 26 news at 9! GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ROCKETS!

That is outragous. If these officials act like this, they should be fired. Immediately. ------------------ "Rarely is the question asked: Is our children learning how to put food on their family while being put to death."
The worst thing about the NBA (and the reason they are losing fans) is that often times, the Refs control the games as much as the players. Anyone remember the game against the Knicks when they set the record for consecutive games of containing an opponent under 100 points? The Refs were aware of the record, and were ready to give the Knicks that game from the first tip-off. Does anyone remember a game with more offensive fouls? Fortunately, the Rockets were able to (miraculously) pull out a victory, even though that was an afterthought on ESPN. ------------------ Kenny Thomas had a foul called on him in the Western Conference Finals.
Remember in that cool movie "Caddyshack" when Rodney Dangerfield slided a roll of bills to one of the refs before the golf contest towards the end of the movie? It wasnt a bribe, he just said "keep it fair, keep it fair". whatever... I bet Cuban saw that movie.... ROcks ------------------
I remember that game and have a busted remote control and a mark on my TV set to remind me ------------------
By: Deanbcurtis: I wonder how much Cuban paid those refs? No ****. I was just about to post that. I just can't believe the unprofessionalism of a referee saying something like that. Mo should have b****-slapped him. ------------------ "We got f*cking smashed every day. And then when we came here to Beverly Hills, we had drugs, we had chicks, we had orgies. You know I've been to a lot of games because I am a season ticket holder and I was at that game last night. I have never seen such bad officiating. It was horrible. I have never seen refs so obviously biased towards the home team. And did anyone see that stupid "inadvertent whistle"? WTF?!?!?! I was appalled. The Rox weren't getting any calls and the Mavs were getting everything. The Mavs were crying and there were NO techs called on them. I feel like I wasted four hours in the car (in the pouring rain) just to see one of the worst, most biased games I have ever seen. Dogbelly is right- THAT is the problem with the league. ------------------ Poopy!
Yea, I hate these power trip, pansy ass refs nowadays. These clowns have their own referees asssociation. What a joke. They created this BS association, so players and anybody else, could not criticize them. Everybody else in America can be criticized for the job they're doing publicly, but not the almighty referees. They hold grudges, and when they contribute to the outcome of a game, they are not doing their job. I hate how refs who have an obstructed view of the play are always the ones to call fouls, and how these clowns call anticipation fouls ala Shandon on Finley. The refs, in general, don't like the rockets. I have only seen 2 or 3 refs that have been friendly and fair to the Rockets. Most of the others probably buy into the perception that other refs have implanted in them. ------------------ [This message has been edited by tacoma park legend (edited March 04, 2001).]
Look at it from the refs point of view. Mo whines to the refs all game long. That must get annoying. He cries even when he commits an obvious foul. The refs don't forget the players who constantly whine. It's ok to cry about a bad call, but it only hurts the player and team when he is called for a touch foul, that otherwise wouldn't have been called without his constant b*tching. ------------------ "Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored."- (Aldous Huxley)
Exactly my point. Whether or not he b****es or not, the refs are not supposed to hold grudges and help determine the outcome of a game based on their dislike of one player or team in general. If they do this, they are not doing their job. It's not like pansy ass Howard wasn't doing the same thing running up to the ref clapping in his face. The Mavs complained too, but they were at home and didn't get booed when they complained like the Rockets. ------------------
What are you talking about? Of all our starters, I see Mo talking to the refs the least. Oh well, its a shame some posters are so blind with hate toward certain players that they try and blame them for things obviously not their fault. ------------------ "We're not settling for just getting in the playoffs." Cat, Francis and Mobley whine as well, but, they do it in a diplomatic way. You can tell the refs take a liking to them. Maybe its because they don't show them up? For the last time, I DO NOT HATE MO!!! Just because I don't agree with your views (maybe I should try a blindfold ) doesn't mean I don't like the player. ------------------ "Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored."- (Aldous Huxley)
Alright Bob, I see what you're saying. It sure seems like you do at times though. Must also be why Steve has the 2nd most T's in the league, lol. In all seriousness, I've never been able to tell that the refs favor them over Mo, but will watch closely in the next few games. ------------------ "We're not settling for just getting in the playoffs." This conspiracy ref stuff is stupid. OK, maybe the refs suck and they make bad calls, but GOOD teams shouldn't need calls to bail them out of games. The Rockets shouldn't NEED the refs on their side to win games. I prefer the opposite, I love it when the Rockets preservere despite adversity. BAH! ------------------ snap crackle pop
nice, why don't u try reading my post TPL? i never said otherwise. I said the Rockets should get wins whether the refs are WITH them or AGAINST them. Good teams don't let games come down to a few silly calls. ------------------ snap crackle pop
I don't think you're being fair here Crisco. No one gets blowout wins every game, and you definitely shouldn't expect the Rockets to every time out. The Mavs have a good basketball team, and we were without our 2nd best player. In situations like that and a few others, there will be close games where a few calls from the refs can be the difference. Imho, they were last night. ------------------ "We're not settling for just getting in the playoffs." "We want a higher seed. There's no doubt.
