If any of you were planning to go to the Morrissey concert tonight or the next few nights around Texas, they have all been cancelled. Poor Morrissey has strained his vocal cords.

    Why, Morrissey, why?

    Psssh....

I caught the Smiths in Dallas and L.A. when I was around 14. I also spent the night in line back in 91' at the Record Rack just to get dudes autograph with about 1500 other weirdos.

    I win. :p

I also think his music now sucks. Since Your Arsenal it's gone down hill, quickly.

I saw Moz a few years ago in CA. He opened the set with "A Light That Never Goes Out". Didn't think he'd open with a Smiths' tune, but it was great. The show was amazing.

    LOL!

I started the night in front of Whataburger and ended the day in the back of a surburban passed out from too many NoDoze and not enough H2O. :(

i was one of those 1500 weirdos!

never saw the smiths. i was only about 12 when they broke up. i was still listening to lionel richie and wang chung at that time.

i would agree about his music. i think the new album sucks and your arsenal was his last good one. viva hate still rules though.

this thread is SO gay. im going to go knit a sweater now.

No offense intended but I never understood the big deal about The Smiths/Morrisey. A little to whiney for me.

I think Johnny Marr was incredibly innovative, and talented. I don't think anyone can deny that Morrissey has been whiney. For some reason in the Smiths it worked and even contrasted the bouncy music. It was a little less whiney but with not as good music once it became just Morrissey. I still liked some of it, but not near as much.

I think a lot of Morrissey's stuff sounded like someone with a bizarre Oscar Wilde obsession that didn't allow him to view it with any balanced perspective. I found it almost funny. Sometimes the whinier it was the funnier I found it. I enjoyed the Smiths, and Morrissey to a lesser degree, but I don't think anyone can argue that it isn't whiney.

I was just reading that he cancelled due to death threats. Apparently he made some anti-Bush statements at a show in Fort Worth. I would have gone to see him since he's doing some old Smiths hits.
