Rockets rookie fined for traffic violations

    June 6, 2002

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. (AP) -- Houston Rockets rookie forward Terence Morris has pleaded guilty to two traffic offenses, avoiding a court appearance by paying $395 in fines.

Morris, 23, had been scheduled to appear in municipal court Wednesday but instead mailed in a signed traffic ticket indicating his guilty plea, a court clerk said Thursday.

Morris was charged last month with speeding and driving on a suspended license. Police stopped him on U.S. Route 340, where he was doing 76 mph in a 60 mph zone.

His Maryland driver's license was suspended in November, after he failed to complete a remedial driving course.

When he was arrested, Morris posted a $385 bond. His fines for the two offenses totaled $10 more, and he sent that money in with the ticket, the clerk said.

Morris is from Frederick, Md., but now lives in Katy, Texas. He graduated from the University of Maryland last year and was selected by the Atlanta Hawks in the second round of the 2001 NBA draft. He was traded to the Houston Rockets for a first-round pick.

This could be used as a great excuse to trade him.

why? because he speeds? or because he got in trouble with the law? 'cause if it's the latter, you might as well put him, Stevie and MoT all on the trading block!

    silly...

heh, the bigger question is who would you trade him to? I'm on of Morris' biggest supporters on the board and even I don't think he's tradeable, unless he's a throw-in to match salaries. Terence doesn't have any value on his own.
