Sorry, maybe I should have clarified. We believe that faith without works is dead, meaning that faith in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior is necessary to gain salvation, but that we much also do our best to live those things that He taught. Just a proclamation that we have accepted Christ as our Savior doesn't, in the Mormon view, ensure salvation in and of itself.
We need proof of their claims of ancient Jews because, like I said, professional archeologists have said they should have left archeological evidence. For Jesus ascension? Not so much.
@slrocket The LDS movement is to Christianity as Christianity was to Judaism. I'm not saying Christianity says God's revelation is closed but Christians have not accepted the Book of Mormon as one. Unfortunately, they were called Christians first and they are still the majority so the LDS is the break-away group.
Someone said Clutch is a Mormon. If true, how can you not like Mormons. We wouldn't be talking on this message board if not for one of them!
First off, I am a Christian. Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior. Now, I will admit there have been many bad things done in the name of Christianity however when I read the scriptures in the New Testament, I see no way it can be interpreted as anything but a religion of peace. While I say there are a lot of very good peaceful Muslims in the world, probably an overwhelming majority, however there seem to be quite a few who interpret the Quran and the Hadith in a way to cause them to not be peaceful. I believe the Quran overall is a book of peace however there are scriptures like the following and from the Hadith I see no way these scriptures can be interpreted as peaceful. In the New testament of Jesus Christ, you will not find anything telling you to behead someone or to kill anyone. If you were to ever convert to Islam it is your choice, however I suggest you study it a little before making the plunge. I pray that you would come to know Jesus.
Well said, Jackie. Clutch's religion or lack of it, however (and whichever!), is something I really have no interest in, just as I don't care what Romney's religion is, but rather care about Romney's stance on the issues, his move further to the right, and wonder if he'd make a good president. The man looks to be the best of a bad lot, in my opinion. Clutch? Whatever his religion is, on this BBS, Clutch is the BEST of a bad lot!

^^^ If I say I'm Mormon, will she date me?!? The Mormon church has been going on a SERIOUS marketing campaign trying to "cool" up their image--this video/reality series being another pathetically blatant installment... And here I was thinking they couldn't get any worse than the laughable "...and I'm a Mormon" advertisements. It's true that most religions and their churches have some business aspect to it--be it through proselytizing and raising monies and such--but the level at which the LDS church does it is manipulative and certainly undermines any supposed spiritual motives... not to mention, just really creepy! For example, the choice of having a black (well, mixed-race) girl in that reality series is clearly no accident--Mormon congregations are whiter than tea party rallies (I had to get that in there) and for good reason. As a darkie myself, I find their "curse of Cain" to be wholly offensive, and their efforts to bury that history for the sake of expansion is disgusting. Granted, every religion has fueled or been mis/used to support racism, but this notion of blacks being inferior was established by the founders themselves. That would be like Jesus, Peter, and Paul going around sharing that "gospel". Anyway, just to be clear, that's no statement on Mormons at an individual level--I know several and they're nice guys... nice robotic guys.
