i was talking to a friend today about whats been happening with Artest and Ariza and trades goin on around the league. well, this friend of mine knows a source close to Daryl Morey and the front office, who told my friend that Morey is working on a trade that is going to give us an upgrade in talent, especially the point guard position. That source did not state any specific name of that or those players, but the team is Portland.
There is no evidence whether Morey making a deal directly with Portland or a deal that also includes a third party
but, if Morey is only trading with Portland, then this might make some sense. there is only one point guard in the Trail Blazers team who i found is extremely talented, although he didnt played much last season, but there is no doubts about how talented he is, and he is Jerryd Bayless. this kid reminds a little bit of the young Francis.
    Thoughts?

If your right, I would love to have Bayless. Hes going to be a stud for sure. He can shoot the ball and will continue to get better at passing.

I haven't seen enough of him to truly comment about his capability, however I am rather uncertain as to why we would be so set on this when we already have a very young, still developing duo of point guards that are significantly talented as well. I understand the search for talent by Morey, but I do think the team does need to search to fill certain positional needs of the team as well, regardless of whether or not we're in rebuild mode.

I'm not against any trades in particular but I am confused as to what a trade for a PG aims to accomplish.

    Shane Battier + Aaron Brooks

    for

    J. Bayless, Rudy, Outlaw

It actually makes sense since Portland wants a proven point guard and a guy who can play with Roy.

My guess is that we're dangling Battier for Bayless/Rudy. I rather have Brooks than Bayless though, he was garbage last year.

Do we plan on sticking Bayless at the 5? Were still lacking a center, so I hope that's included in whatever the next move the Rockets make.

    Please let it be true.

Can numbers guys, if it isn't too much of a burden, outline how our 2010 cap would look with say Rudy, Outlaw, Bayless?

Bayless is a point guard. He's only 20. Could of been a top 5 pick last year but fell around to the 13th I believe.

I would love to get Jerryd Bayless. He's very explosive and he likes to attack the basket. I remember in the SL, he averaged around 26 pts and 8 free throws per game. I believe if given chance, he can be special.

Did you talk to your friend before or after Hedo bolted?

I follow you and Im familiar with Bayless. I know we need this and that, but more than anything we lack a center. Could a deal potentially involve Pryzbylla?

There is no reason why Morey would be going after a pg, except Rubio.

My bad, I thought you meant if we can stick to Bayless playing the 5 position.

Why was Bayless buried on the bench behind Steve Blake and Sergio Rodriguez? I know he was a rookie and all, but if he were really as good as we seem to think he is it seems he should have been able to move ahead of one of those guys. This was a weakness of their team.

Not sure about how their management feels about Brooks but he is popular in that area and he shot well against them in the playoffs so maybe they'd bite:

    Brooks
    Roy
    Battier
    Aldridge
    Oden/Pryzbilla

    Lowry/Bayless
    Rudy
    Ariza/Outlaw
    Scola/Landry
    ?

I think it heavily favors the Rockets but I'd be down for this kind of deal. We get a bunch of young talent and Portland gets Battier and a scoring point in Brooks.
