Let say Dawson didn't retire and we never stole Morey away from the Celtics *(can you imagine if Morey was still with the celtics and getting them cheap but good productive players like he is doing with the Rockets?)*.

What do you think Dawson would do with this team when Yao and Tracy was out and Ron Artest leave ( I doubt dawson can steal Artest that easily) and we were stuck with a young group of role players? What type of moves he will make type of trades, player he would draft etc.

This point of this thread is to see what everyone would predict Dawson would do with this team with Tmac and Yao both are injured and we have to go out with a group of role players.

I think he wouldn't do much but probably do a desperate trade for a crappy star that is overpriced and ruined our cap for years. That is what I think he would probably do.

Dawson would trade Battier and Scola for Rip Hamilton.

Sign & Trade with NY for David Lee ($9million per) - sending Landry + Brooks.

Then bring in Miller at full MLe for 6 years

    Re-sign Artest.

    I don't think it's disguised.

I also forsee 99ers come in and start bashing the OP for daring to say something bad about Dawson.

Dawson made mistakes and people will say or point to someone else as being the gm or whatever during the ring yrs. He swung for the fences and he hit some (drafted cat, traded for francis, traded for tracy, drafted Yao) and he made some errors (cato, taylor, norris contract, some poor drafts) but it is what it is. The jury is out on whether Morey can get that guy and only time will tell.

If Morey was still with the Celtics, they wouldn't have KG. Morey is all about cheap players that outperform their contract.

Rockets is turning into the Trailblazers of the 90's.

    McGrady - Drexler
    Brooks - Porter
    Ariza - Kersey
    Landry - Williams
    Battier - ???
    Budinger - Robinson
    Andersen - Duckworth
    Hayes - Bryant

Then a different Blazers team had

Yao - Sabonis <-- not on the 90-91 team
Scola - Grant <--- not on the 90-91 team

I'm believed that Blazers team in the early 90's was a better team then the 2010 Rockets even if healthy.

They had other players as well Rod Strickland and Danny Ainge was better then Battier and Lowry.

On paper the Rockets have more depth, but that Blazers team was more cohesive.

So they had the tallent **** they won 63 games in the 90-91 season and made it to the finals twice against the Bulls.

Slowly, but surely it appears that the Rockets is trying to assemble a team that closely resembles a team from the 90's that won 60+ games coached by the same person too.

The question is now who playes Rod Strickland because Lowry is not even close.

By judging this it looks like Battier and maybe Lowry and Cook will be out of here for a Rod Strickland type guard to compensate, but the question is who could it be Ellis?

Why not Tracy Mcgrady for Micheal Redd SG and Kurt THomas C. You would think Morey and dawson would do this looking how we really need a center an sg.?

How did we steal Morey or why did he leave Boston?

For those thinking of bashing CD, just remeber what he brought us.

Yeah, there's no way Morey would have traded Al Jefferson and a bunch of scrubs for a former MVP who's not that far removed from his prime. Morey hates perennial all-stars.

CD was a great assistant coach. His GM stint wasn't so great, but not because of lack of effort. Some bad signings in there. Cato, Moochie, Maloney.

I actually liked the Mo Taylor signing. Too bad it didn't work out.

Mo Taylor signing was awesome. Mo Taylor extension... not so much. :p

Then again, I think there was suppose to have been wink-wink deals(the Joe Smith kind w/o the papers) when we managed to snag Taylor and Anderson for cheap. Only to sign them to huge deals despite not doing much in their first years here.

Well....if they had kept Al Jefferson, who's on the upswing of his career, instead of KG, who's current knee problems are worse than people think...then the Celtics would've probably still won the Championship in '08 while still being in serious contention this season.

So would Morey have done that trade? Maybe but you can't be sure.

What I believe CD will do is that he will not do anything and tank the season ala 99-00. The year Olajuwon is old, Barkley retire and Pippen traded.

Dream paired with Morey might have won 4 championships.

Al is a volume scorer vs KG
    Al D is horrible
Al doesn't provide the intensity or motivation that KG does

If they kept Al, I doubt they would of won a championship in 07-08.

Anytime you get a player who can help win a championship its a good move, even if it means your team might not repeat in the following years.

    Get to figure twiddlin...

I doubt Dawson would have picked up a well rounded group that could handle the majority of the season working with no All Stars from the beginning of the season.

Its tough to say exactly what he would have done but I doubt we'd have the players in place that we do now to man the reigns.

AND more than likely no Chase Budinger. :(

    IMWT! :D
