something similar to this story was posted awhile back http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=154296&highlight=live+morey
Luther Head is a consistent and accurate shooter in video games, but fails in irl. Fail evaluation method is fail.
Almost every NBA team uses the stats and videos from Synergy. NBA Live using Synergy data for its gameplay simulation. I could see it being used as a tool to visualize how certain combinations of players with particular "Synergy" attributes would play with eachother.
Does Tmac play every game in the virtual season? And if not, is he even on the bench rooting his team on? DD
It's not a bout the gameplay; which 2K is better at. Live 09 has Synergy, that has stats from every game about the % of when Parker goes right and what happens when he does. Obviously Morey is not going to use some 2K Insider's opinion over Synergy.
tell me this is not how we make our decisions...thats just strange. i love me some morey but this is embarrassing
It's a simulation tool, and I'm sure it's just one of many evaluation steps in his decision making process. It's no more embarrassing than looking at Synergy's stats for prospective players -- something virtually every NBA team does.
Everyone uses Synergy, and Live 09 integrates Synergy "We’ve used Synergy for several years now. It’s a fantastic product that’s become a key part of our scouting process, and it’s improving every year. I’ve known [Synergy CEO] Garrick Barr for 15 years – he’s one of the best in the business and I’m excited to continue working with him and his team." -Danny Ainge, GM, 2008 World Champion Boston Celtics “To be able to watch video of every NBA player and watch every facet of their game without any advanced preparation is unheard of.”
A GM using a video game to evaluate talent? You have got to be kidding me. Isn't this the same game that simulated The Baron Davis Golden State Warriors into the NBA Finals? And seriously, how can you be involved in making decisions regarding multi-million dollar trades if you need a video game to tell you how Ron Artest is going to perform on your team?
